Took my 01 LC in for 40,000 mile service, nothing much wrong with it at all, just a rountine service. Instructed them to check out an intermittent brake grinding noise from the rear.
On picking the car up:
FRONT pads replaced, not at my request, nothing wrong with rears
SERVICE light still flashing
HUGE water leak in passenger footwell next time it rained
PULSING brakes
DIRTY fingerprints all over the place
Noticed new chip in windscreen a few miles later, can't be sure they did it but very suspicious...
So:
Back to Patterson's to have service light reset. They said, "Sometimes it doesn't reset, we don't know why!" Sometimes you forget to reset it mate! Can't sort out water leak same day.
Bring it back for water leak which I have worked out via this forum is a wrongly-fitted pollen filter. An indication of the quality of workmanship they display. When correctly fitted, water leak stops.
The brakes give a pulsing feeling ie on-off-on-off since they fitted new pads, car in AGAIN to check brakes over. Diagnosis is: warped discs, they want to charge for new discs AND pads to cure
problem. No answer as to why the discs weren't checked at the time of pad replacement as they should be. Price of parts is way over the top as well, compared to identical parts from Euro Car Parts. Eventually they send me a cheque refunding the price of the pads and fitting as they clearly should have checked the discs at the same time and I will need to buy new pads again when I change the discs elsewhere!
Plus - they forgot to stamp the log book and when I took it in again they stamped it UPSIDE DOWN and got the milage wrong so there's a load of suspicious-looking tippex all over the log book.
All in all, a catalogue of errors, which turned my car from A1 condition to a juddery, leaky, dirty, chipped-windscreen motor, still asking for a service!
Needless to say I will be going to an independent from now on - the SEAT stamps in the book are worth nothing if not less!
Buyer beware Pattersons.
