Anyone tried these guys? I went to buy some oil from them a few weeks back and got directed to the Ford garage down the road for the servicing / parts dept. Got a 20k service coming up and they have a Focus ST demonstrator in . Do I kill 2 birds with 1 stone ?

i bought my Leon from them, had no problems what so ever, they even picked me up from the airport!!

they are a Seat branch but the patterson group also have 3 ford things around newcastle so i would not worry at all.

they serviced my car before i picked it up and it runs like a ... thing that runs well.

I've had mine serviced at the SEAT branch a couple of times and had it in for 3 engine warning lights which they did not charge me for even though my car is out of warranty. Customer service is excellent compared to North-East garages, don't really think much of the salesmen that I have spoken to but can't fault the service dept.

Just spotted something for them saying up to 50% off if you book your service with them before 1st January 2006, you can book your service for any time up to December 2006 and don't have to pay until you get the service.

I wouldn't go back to North-East garages, was planning on getting my next service at Pattersons anyway.

Sounds very interesting! I bought my LCR from North East Garages and wasn't very impressed with them at all. Got my 10k service done at Alex Bridge in Sunderland and they did a great job, but it's a bit out of the way for me. Looks like Patterson's get the business if this 50% offer is still on.

According to the little leaflet I got, for a 1.8 Cupra on a 20K service, the price is normally £159, offer price is £83, I guess it'll be about the same for a LCR

No issues with the service dept, I guess. I took the car in, they serviced it. £200. Standard.

BUT, the salesroom guys are, IMO, just your avearge stealers...
The cupra had been in for a service a couple of weekends before so I knew the service dept shut at 12 on a Saturday yet, when I went into the showroom at 11.45, and asked if someone could just pop the headunit out of the dash for me, the salesman looked at his watch and said, "No, the service department is shut now". I asked him what time he made it and told him that I thought they shut at 12. He replied that they'd all gone home anyway. I wanted to ask him why I could see roller doors open and lights on out the back but decided that he wwas never going to help. I'm sure one of the 3 or 4 people in the showroom must have had the key to eject the headunit (or known where to get it from in the service dept) but could they be arsed? 'Course not.

(Incidentally, I went down Scotswood Road to Sungold Autosounds and they not only came out to the car and popped the unit out but sat in the car for 10mins with me and chatted about stereo stuff - BIG recommendation for them to anyone considering stereo upgrades in Newcastle area  )

Took my 01 LC in for 40,000 mile service, nothing much wrong with it at all, just a rountine service. Instructed them to check out an intermittent brake grinding noise from the rear.

On picking the car up:

FRONT pads replaced, not at my request, nothing wrong with rears

SERVICE light still flashing

HUGE water leak in passenger footwell next time it rained

PULSING brakes

DIRTY fingerprints all over the place

Noticed new chip in windscreen a few miles later, can't be sure they did it but very suspicious...

So:

Back to Patterson's to have service light reset. They said, "Sometimes it doesn't reset, we don't know why!" Sometimes you forget to reset it mate! Can't sort out water leak same day.

Bring it back for water leak which I have worked out via this forum is a wrongly-fitted pollen filter. An indication of the quality of workmanship they display. When correctly fitted, water leak stops.

The brakes give a pulsing feeling ie on-off-on-off since they fitted new pads, car in AGAIN to check brakes over. Diagnosis is: warped discs, they want to charge for new discs AND pads to cure problem. No answer as to why the discs weren't checked at the time of pad replacement as they should be. Price of parts is way over the top as well, compared to identical parts from Euro Car Parts. Eventually they send me a cheque refunding the price of the pads and fitting as they clearly should have checked the discs at the same time and I will need to buy new pads again when I change the discs elsewhere!

Plus - they forgot to stamp the log book and when I took it in again they stamped it UPSIDE DOWN and got the milage wrong so there's a load of suspicious-looking tippex all over the log book.

All in all, a catalogue of errors, which turned my car from A1 condition to a juddery, leaky, dirty, chipped-windscreen motor, still asking for a service!

Needless to say I will be going to an independent from now on - the SEAT stamps in the book are worth nothing if not less!

Buyer beware Pattersons.

I went to buy my Leon from the newcastle dealers, landed in my clio, had spent a hard day painting the flat so didnt look my best (but this shouldnt matter) started to drool over the 2.0 dsg with the kit and everything else looking nice.

One guy came over to see me as if he had to and wouldnt even humour me with a price, i knew i had to pay almost 2 grand to get out of my clio but the fella didnt want to know.

just shoke my head and left.

Next day came and i went to SG Petch in Durham where i spoke to a man who mainly sold Hyundai cars next door but he was more than willing to help me and bluff his way through! in the end he just gave me the keys and the car was sold, 6 hours later i was on my way home!

(handy as the tax ran out at midnight!!!)

So thought why not and popped into the newcaastle dealer and asked the same salesman if i could have a book of prices for CD changers etc etc!

very good feeling especially as i had on a pair or naff addidas pants and a painting t shirt!

Over all dodge these guys and take the drive to Petch theses fellas will help you out with anything.

Another intersting thing which you will have to see to undersatnd.

walked in to get the Leon serviced, i decided that a service is a service so the long ass drive to durham was not worth the hassle. Asked some youth behind the counter to book it in and that. he said no. thats all he said `no` i just looked and laughed thinking he was having a giggle! he said you need to ring some central number to book in any service!

0191 2739161 thats the number if you want a laugh!

The lady on the phone was very nice and made up for this caveyouth, £150 pounds later im on my way home.

Next time the run to petch may not be so bad.

The young lad is an apprentice i think... he's been there learning the ropes with Terry, the main service fella, the last couple of times i've been in.

Never ever had to phone to book it in, i always just call as its only 10 mins from my house.

Terry seems like a canny fella, but the sales guys i dont trust, and after a couple of blatantly wrong diagosis', i dont think their ford, sorry, SEAT, technicians are particularly clever either

That Terry seems like a canny bloke but totally fobbed me off when I took my car to them to look at the classic SEAT Leon Climate control slow speed fan problem. Gave me the keys back and said they'd replaced a blown fuse - this was a blatantly not true. No invoice to say which parts had been used etc which I've received when warranty work has been carried out before. They had quite clearly done nothing. It's Alex Bridge SEAT for everything now for me I'm afraid, and that includes a possible order for a new Leon Cupra next spring.
