There used to be an unreliable one online at vagcat.com, but it appears to have completely died now. What problems are you having with the Ebay one, perhaps we can help you get that working?

Hi

The one from the auction site is in the bin, I frisbeed it in frustration, The parts im looking for are firstly the bolt which holds the weight over the 2 clutch cables, I recently had a lot of work done and the bolt that the garage fitted fell out and jammed up the cables, I am a licenced aircraft engineer and know that 2 threads holding the weight on is not correct, I need the ammo for when I go and see them. Secondly there is a washer and oring which sit on the wiper spindle under the circlip, I dont have them on mine and they keep clogging up.

Any help would be apreciated

I don't think you need to be an aircraft engineer to know 2 threads won't hold anything on! :D

I'll have a look to see what I can find, what's your car model and year?

The washer and o ring might be a challenge, I've had to go into the parts catalogue when my wiper spindles seized, and from memory the whole unit is one part. I don't believe you can get the washer and o ring separately.

This is the wiper set up off a 2001 51 plate octavia, basically the same thing.

I do remember the parts (I got VERY familiar with them while I was trying to open them up!!), but I'm fairly sure they're not in the parts catalogue like that. I remember only one or two part numbers for the entire wiper assembly. I know for definite that the crank doesn't come as a separate part because I asked Sere motors for one and he couldn't help.

Sounds like you're looking for a workshop manual rather than a parts catalog. Did you get an ebay copy of Elsawin? They can be fiddly to get working, as they are all ripoffs of VAG's proprietary electronic manuals.

Partial copies of ETKA used to be available from the Vagcat site, which has gone missing now. There are some Russian copies available, some of which need translation. This one seems to work most of the time. Use with caution though, as they are not up to date and have mistakes in them.

I think the cables you're referring to are the gear selection cables, the clutch is hydraulic and would only use one cable in any case. That weight is bolted to the selection lever and should be done up to 25Nm - two threads will not be adequate, they've got the wrong bolt. I had one break (the whole lever) on my old TDI 90 Ibiza.

If he takes the crank to a decent bearing specialist they'll have a suitable O ring and washer. The spindle was around 10mm from memory, O ring 2mm thick ish. Assemble with silicone grease to prevent the O ring rotting

Sorry for not replying I was on shift, The car is an 1999 v5 150, I have sorted the wipers out thanks, as for the clutch cable weight will try to source a bolt locally as I have to drive to gloucester from warrington on friday.

Phoning the garage tomorrow, after close inspection the accelerator cable was routed incorrectly and now it vibrates through the peddle and is intermittantly notchy, the small pipe on the air filter disconnected, and the 2 black plastic caps on the top of the suspension broken, god knows where the mechanic was trained, will keep you informed, thanks for the help and advise.

I would suggest creating a new thread for that, I only looked in here because I posted in here before. Most other people won't even notice you've added a new request.
