Parking sensors going off randomly

Hi,
So I've noticed lately that sometimes when I'm in slow moving traffic, my parking sensors will sound and show up on the screen as something being really close. And on every occasion I've checked my mirrors to find that the car behind being at least 2 meters away. Same with the front sensors.
Anyone else had this before? Or know what could be wrong?

Cheers

I've seen this happen too. Had it when cyclists swerve round you in traffic. I'm just happy to see that they work!!

Incidentally I've also seen this happening in loads of different cars from Mini's to Range Rovers etc. so it's nothing specific to SEAT's.

No Matt, thats a real reason, what I believe me and Ck are referring to is when there is feck all else around you...

I've had this too, at random times when nothing is close.
Not sure if it is connected but have noticed the following - work motor is a 62 Passat, cars are parked behind each other in the drive. The sensors on the Passat seem to interfere with the Leon's, the Passat can be 3-4 metres in front, yet as soon as it's sensors come on the Leon's will change from showing an object at the relevant distance to showing it close up, without any movement of either car. Didn't happen with previous LCR though. Perhaps it's the frequency used? It causes the same issues in the Passat too.

The only thing relevant that happens with mine is if I'm on a hill junction and roll back slightly they will activate - which I thinks a great feature, I always makes me aware :)

I've noticed it on mine too. I believe it has something to do with other car's parking sensors transmitting some signals that the Leon catches, since the Leon's parking sensors seem to be constantly on (or at least when at low speed). They most probably use similar frequency and signals.

Sorry! Re-read and i understand you now. Not really had the random start up...

Slightly related but i have found that sometimes the ACC gets a bit confused when you are overtaking a large smooth sided lorry on the motorway. Seems to struggle to pick up the car in front. Different sensor to the parking sensors of course.

Has your car been in for a service recently?? Mine used to go off in traffic every so often but normally another vehicle was fairly close (but no close enough for them to crazy in my opinion!). However, since mine was serviced last month they seem to be going off even when the nearest vehicle or object is some distance away, its driving me crazy. Not sure if maybe there has been a software update to them!

In the Seat forum in Holland we tested it and it is proven that the latest Renault cars with sensors equipped caused this behaviour.
So it not a glitch of your car but recent Renault cars have them switched on (transmitting) permanently.

I'm happy that they are on permanently because I like to know if someone is getting too close to me. But when there's nothing around its annoying. It's like as if a fly is setting them off

Happened to me recently for the first time as well, in slow moving traffic and the car in front and behind not even that close to me, strange.
