If you are going to use vcds, it will tell you which sensor is faulty, but you have to do the checks in measuring blocks.
If you are going to use your good old ears, locate the faulty one and then try swopping it with a good one, to see if it's wiring or the sensor.

I've not posted here in a while but parking sensors on my car are still an issue. It's very random - but always when/after it's rained. Sometimes they work fine, other times they go hayware (lots of frantic beeping or solid beep as if you're about to hit something) when you put it in reverse. But - take it out of reverse, and re-engage reverse, and they are fine.

All very bizarre and the dealer has no clue what it can be. They literally said "we can't find anything wrong and don't know what to do to fix this" !

The trouble is, it's so random it's not easily reproduced, so I just get the stock "we can't find a fault" every time it goes in. You'd think after 5 visits they might have got the hint...

Meantime - a colleague's Audi A3, and a friend's Audi A4 (both 56/57 plates, so I assume, the same system) have the exact same problem, so it's pretty obviously a case of the sensors or wiring not being fit for purpose.

Question is... how to get it fixed if the dealer doesn't know how. My car's still under warranty so I'm not about to start taking it to bits myself. I guess I'll just have to be persistent at the dealer's or try a different dealer.

Now the weather has started to change and its got a bit wetter my parking sensors are playing up again so I've got my car booked in at the main dealers on Tuesday, hopefully it's raining on the way there so they play up

Andy - you took the words right out of my mouth! Mine have done the exact same, in the last few days - I've noticed particularly on windy AND wet days. Suggesting the wind is blowing water in somewhere.

What's interesting, is that washing the car (with a pressure washer, including the wheel arches thoroughly) doesn't usually cause the problem.

Going to be booking mine in to the dealer again on Monday too. Let me know how you get on!

Andy - how did you get on? My car has been at the dealer's for a week. After having it 1 day they rang and told me there was nothing wrong with it but that a "senior technician" wanted to take a look. 3 days later they told me the same as yours - faulty sensor. Ordered, painted, and fitted yesterday. Collected car last night (after rain) and all working fine - hurrah (or so I thought...).

This morning (rained overnight here) - back to square 1 :-(

Have just booked it in for the 6th time at the dealer next Monday, and have also phoned SEAT UK customer services and logged a complaint.

How did you get on with yours? I can't believe how difficult it seems to be to get this resolved. Such a shame too as the rest of the car is great. Having had a BOL Skoda Fabia for the last week as a courtesy car I can really appreciate the Exeo now....!

Hi guy's,

I had the same parking sensor, issue that you are all having. After several visit;s to the dealership, and a number of new sensors' it was resolved, by putting vasline in the connector block, that was done some time ago and has never been an issue since.

Hi Kblackburn,

Thank you for this. I will pass this info to the dealer on Monday when my car's in again, and ask them to do this. I'll let you all know how it goes!

Cheers

Sensors

Hi peeps

I have one sensor that clicks after a liberal frost the other night and some heavy rain. Otherwise the beeeeeeep is constant.

Have you any pics of changing the sensors out or where the connector is for vaseilinetreatment?

Cheers

Bumper needs to be removed, torque screws in each wheel arch, 3 in the arch liner, then 4 hold the bumper to the bracket on the body, then in the boot 5, 10mm nuts, unplug the wires from the sensor box, bumper pulls off, then with the bumper off,you can see how the loom plugs onto the sensors, insert vasline or similar grease, silicone might be ok, reassemble.

Does anyone know where I can find the sensor box, and will unplugging it shut my sensors up. They are making a hell of a noise at the moment.

Parking sensor control unit, is located, nearside rear corner, but number plate lights plug into the same unit, they can be turned off using vcds,or identified which one is causing the problem, where in cumbria are you based ?

Im in carlisle, had a friend of mine in a local independent look with vcds. O/S centre sensor shows intermittent faulty reading. looks like i will be needing to replace that then.:(
