Parking sensor graphics?

Hi readers.
I bought my first ever Seat Leon 1.4 FR last month after trading in my Golf GTI 16V.
I ordered it with the 2.2 media system and rear parking sensors came as standard. But after reading the media manual and surfing the net, it say the parking sensors are intergrated with the media system if its factory fitted. When I reverse, I should see the picture of the car detecting any objects on the display. I get the beeps but no picture.

Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi raylee

I am a new boy on the block as well so I’ll say a big hello to all and yourself.

I spent many an hour trawling over the specs sheets for my Leon SE Copa TDI when I ordered it last August and after seeing your post and having the same thoughts as you with “should I have or should I not have this and that” and with this car being full to the brim with gadgets you tend to miss or forget a few thing.

What I can make of it is (assuming it’s the same thing for the FR) if you don’t have the front parking sensors you don’t get the optical display, which to me is a bit odd because I can see what’s in front of me.

Still great stuff though.

Chris.

Its called "Parking Radar" and it is part of the same pack as autolights etc. I think its the technology pack.

With this you get the front sensors as well, and then the radar on the Media system works.

When it comes to Seat specs thing do get confusing that’s for sure.

Running through the Seat Leon brochure I see that the Convenience Pack includes, quoting from brochure, rain sensor, light sensor, auto dimming rear view mirror, rear parking sensors and two additional speakers.

Adding the Seat Media System alone does not give you the optical display on the Media System display, for that you also need, as you said, the Technology Pack that includes, again quoting from brochure, Seat Media System(which the OP has as an extra) with Bluetooth Communication Pack including DAB radio tuner, bi-xenon headlights and front parking sensors (Optical Park System).

I think the way the OP has added the media system to his standard convenience pack FR is the same as my “everything upgrade except the price” Leon SE Copa that has the same packs i.e. convenience pack plus the 2.2 media system with sat-nav.

If this is the case then you get rear parking sensors with audio warning only and no front sensors or optical display and the OP’s FR is working correctly.

The RCD 310 is no longer available on the Seats. Would you recommend pluging in a vagcom or paying a visit to the stealers about it?

Is the 310 not, not even on lower spec models.

Where are you? could you find someone near you with vcds.

Could try dealers not sure, they might not want to know as it wasn't configured from the dealer.

Thanks for that. But i still think that the media manual is mis-leading.
I know what you mean, after reading the manual the first time I spent about an hour looking for the red led on the driver’s door that tells me the alarm is set.

That’s what it says in the manual, that it’s in the driver’s door however after a bit of backward thinking and having in mind that the Spanish version is left hand drive and therefore the driver’s door is on the left hand side and low and behold there it is flashing away in the passenger door.:D

The manual is riddled with things that you simply don’t know if there extras or standard. I only found out when we had a bit of frost a few weeks ago that I don’t have the heaters in the windscreen wipers rest area that I assumed were standard.

Ether that or they don’t work.

You should be able to get Optical Parking System on the display.

I have a late 2010 leon SE with Convenience Pack which now has ops, the car came with the rcd 310 as standard, although you will have to enable the correct controller's / can gateway with vcds.

Have a look here it has all the info.

That’s an interesting link you have there but unfortunately for me I have the Leon under the Motability leasing scheme which has adaptation fitted to it for my disability so I dare not muddle with any of it’s innards.

I'm based in Middlesex.
I do have a copy of Vcds, i used it on the Golf. Saved me a lt of money, but Im not sure if it will work on the Leon, as the Golf was a 1997.

Where is the OBD port on the Leon anyway? i try try this weekend to see if it will connect to it.
