Hey guys, sorry for yet another thread!

Under braking I seem to have a rattling noise coming from the parcel shelf? Is this an easy fix like putting a bit of rubber where the noise is coming from? Hard to find the exact location as it's only when I'm braking! Could be a common problem?

I'm not so sure now. It's not the parcel shelf as I had someone hold it and it still made the noise. Then I thought it could be the spare tyre but I don't think so either.

How can I check if it's the boot trim?

Ive had a rattle for in the boot area for a while. Its been to Seat and they inform me that its body panel flex, due to the stiff standard suspension. Cant rectify it, not sure if your experiancing the same rattle.

They had the car for over a week in total. :D

And its still there.....

Ok, think I may have found the issue, I pulled the plastic on the back of the boot and it moved very easily. I think this is what it is.

I have taken a pic to help me explain what I think it is. Basically there seems to be some metal clips that hold onto the plastic trim and then stick in a few holes on the metal of the boot and they seem to be stuck in the metal part of the boot:

This picture is looking through the left hole in the boot where you can change the bulbs

This is the same on both sides. Could this be what it is? They definitely look like they should be stuck to the plastic trim as they have clips for them.

ye they are the clips that hold the trim onto the tailgate, they often come off the trim and stay stuck in the holes.

the rattle is actually the plastic vibrating against the lip on the inside of the tailgate...i have no such rattles any more. My resolution is to get some one-sided foam tape and stick it to the inside rim of the plastic trim

just be aware that the trim doesn't like to be removed more than once...after the first removal the plastic housings become very weak and easily break. so make sure you cover everything in one (even though the trim isn't an expensive part, would be less hassle really)

Ok so I did this a few weeks ago and the rattle was still there, there was only 1 clip that had fully broken and the metal clip wasn't anywhere so I assume it's fallen out somewhere along the line.

The rattle is still there so I tried to investigate further and noticed the left lights on the boot were loose so I tightened them and it STILL rattles.

I don't know what else to check!

Any ideas?

The rear seat back rest can rattle on it's catches. fold the rear seat back rest down and see if the noise goes away.

if it does post back on here or PM me for a tip to cure it.

i can almost assure you it's the boot trim...i ended up lining the outer side of the inside of the trim (if you know what i mean) with single-sided foam tape and has reduced most of the rattles

also fitted the cupra spoiler which doesn't rattle at all compared to the standard one (much more robust design)

...now to stop the whole tailgate from vibrating...and the wire within the rear bumper

Try looking at the tailgate struts. One of mine "rattles", just try shaking it from side to side and see if thats the origin of the noise. Im ordering a replacement from this company www.strutsdirect.co.uk, it seems pretty simple to replace. Let me know if this is your problem buddy!
