Rattle !!

Hi i got a MK4 Leon Dynamic 1.5tsi evo (130) thats currently at a VAG specialist being investigated for a rattle, they dont seem to know whats causing it, but heres how i recreate the rattle >>
FROM COLD START has high fluctuating idle, revs drop to 1000 idle smooths out, revs drop again to 800. THEN, AT THIS POINT ONLY if you take the revs up to 1200-1400 approx. and hold it around there you can notice a rattle develop. It can only be noticed when engine is cold. No rattle when warmed up.
Any ideas guys?...TIA

Maybe the classic turbo actuator rod rattle? Is this a thing on the 1.5 as it could be on the 1.4?

I thought this, but one garage said its too low mileage for it to be that (25k), and looking at a few YT vids the arm that people repair with the 'clip' doesnt rattle at all, even supporting it with my hand makes no difference, i have no idea tbth :S

Got car back from VAG Specialists, they could not find OR fix the rattle, charged me
£90 for the pleasure aswell

Mk4 FR 130, thought I'd try what you did and guess what (without any unevenness when cold)...a rattle which was there when cold but not when hot. Used to have a couple of Honda's which had piston slap when driving cold but over 60K miles in each never presented any problems. Wouldn't be something I'd bother about and probably cause no issues down the line?

Terrible rattle as cold on my 1.4 plug-in as well. Selling the car as I can't take it.
