Its because dealers were making their own K1's out of cupras due to popularity. You can but try mate.

Judging by the stone chips on my bonnet, i'd say the car's paint in general is thin!

I doubt very much the dealer will re-spray it for you. Best bet is too get it re-sprayed yourself and put on the paint protection stuff like Venture Sheild - it's on my list to do!

It's the way the paint reacts differently to the plastic than it does to the metal. It's well worth a try see what the dealer says and let us know?

I was told by a sprayer that they dont prime plastic parts anymore but use a bonding agent instead, so the amount paint is always thinner due to the lack of primer.

Aye to the above. I noticed thinner paint on both k1 bumpers. They were fitted at port for the k1 which also adds to my concerns regarding quality. Should have seen the k1 I sold last month, was like a spotty teenager it had that many bumper chips. Took me forever to fill and fix them all.

that is a point, my front bumper was peppered, I then got my trusted garage to respray it and it held up much much better, dont have anywhere near as many visible stone chips as before.

my K1 has a slight colour mis-match rear bumper to the rest of the car.

As mentioned the kits were put on at port and painted away from the car.

Mine is thin to and front bumper needs a respray, on the list to do!

Your not alone!

My rear bumper is also a slightly lighter shade of orange, and the front is darker, but that was resprayed before i picked it up due to loads of stone chips in it! And its much more noticable when the car is dirty (like it currently is !)

My car was a Seat UK vehicle from new, so would have thought it would have been sprayed properly rather than being rushed at a dealer??

Also, my log book doesnt state K1, only cupra. Is this the case for everyone else?

I thought its because the bodykit gets fitted and sprayed when it comes off the ship from spain, so there is bound to be a mismatch because its done at a different time to when the car body was painted

most plastics will show lighter, a good point is the audi a4's its due to the way the paint lies on plastics.

sometimes no matter how many coats you give it they wont match.
