last nite i went to work and driving at 60mph taking it steady all of a sudden my MY51 cupra overheated, once parked up the temp dropped bk down to normal temp.

been out to car this moprning and let it warm up and it appear that it does not start to over heat until u drive at over 50mph

there is heat in the heaters but half as hot as u normally get,

im hoping this is just the thermostat and nothing serious as the car performs like normal but any suggestions would be great

It'll be the waterpump - mine went a couple of months back. You'll be changing the cambelt too when you get that done...

standard 1 as the metal can cause major damage if they fail i read, but apprantly they redesigned standard pump to make it stronger

My cupra r is in for a water pump and cam belt, but it turns out it wasn`t the pump that failed,so ive got to wait for the garage to put it back together and then try to sort out what it is.I would have put money on it being a pump faliure (hot engine, cold heater etc) but maybe just a stuck thermostat?.It did need a cambelt though,so not too fussed!!
