Options SEAT should make available.

I would buy the following if available as an option.

No, one chance to vote only.

You need to think of all the things you want to vote on before creating a poll ideally

Ok. The poll wasn’t just about what I would want, but about what sufficient numbers of other new Leon purchasers would be willing to pay for. If we are to get these then it needs a strong business case for SEAT to make them available.

I think we need to treat this thread as a suggestions box. Would everyone please just post suggestions in this thread? When we have 25 options that seem to have some support, I’ll start a new poll with seems the most popular 25 options.

Keep the ideas coming please folks.

Ford may have held the patent but it must have expired.

I own a car with a heated screen.Has Ford licenced BMW?

It's over 20 years since I first bought a car with a heated screen. a patent only lasts 10 years.

if anything i want to see a twin turbo option for the diesel, my windscreen doesnt mist up that much so ive never worried about it and i wouldnt want 4wd/quattro/4motion or any of that stuff because as well as adding weight / -mpg / +Co2 it would take the fun out of the leon and make it a more sensible car like ze germans. I know its great and i would never knock the system but if the cupra r was quattro, what would be the difference in driving sensation between that and the Golf R and the S3?

The whole point of options is they’re optional.

Those who think they would be sufficiently useful to their particular circumstances will pay for them, others won’t. If they’re available, you have to do without or buy a different car.

An electrically heated windscreen demists a little faster than putting the aircon on. But that’s not why I’d buy it. When the windscreen is covered in frost or ice you stand there for ages scraping. With an electric screen you just press the button. Within seconds the frost has gone or the ice has slid off.

No standing there and getting freezing cold hands. No getting back into the car with wet clothes and scraper, only to damage the interior. The cost savings of not buying de-icer pay for the screen over a few years.

Where I live we get cut off by snow most years. We either lose a few days income because we’re snowed in, or I can’t get home and end up snowed out. Then I have to stay elsewhere, incurring more costs. I doubt Quattro would solve it altogether, but it would reduce my loses. I’ve tried the full off roader 4X4 option, but the running costs were more than the loses. And I still couldn’t get out sometimes.

One year we got snowed in so badly we drank the village pub dry. After three days we still couldn’t get out, so we had to make our own entertainment. ;)

I’m still paying for the consequences. Not content with one degree, he’s now doing a Masters (also at my expense). I could have had a Ferrari and fitted 4X4 for the costs.

I drive an Ibiza, but the things I would like could be options in all SEAT cars. I like the idea of the heated windscreen, but the thing I would really love is a heated steering wheel! The higher end Corsas have them as standard with the comfort pack, but I didn't want another Corsa with a slow engine just to have a heated steering wheel - I wanted the power and better drive of the Ibiza's 1.2tsi engine, so to have the option of a heated steering wheel would make it my absolutely perfect combination!

i would think that bmw uses different technology to fords , fords patent covers the fact of their technology not on the fact that its a heated windscreen.

A Seat rep under the alias of uncle fester would be pretty unique :) but i dont think a thread on here will change Seat's mind about the options list so i'd go with hypothetical

see now its going to get complicated if you and your clone start talking on this thread :D

i know were the budget sporty brand, but i dont think theres much options on an A3 that my leon doesnt have, beside Quattro obviously, i think the GTD gets a reversing camera but then again it doesnt get the XDS so go team SEAT, and admitedly i dont have auto tinting wing mirrors only rear view, but my mates GTI VI's wingmirrors dont fold in like mine, so its not as bad as it first seems

It isn't SEAT you'd have to convince, it's VAG group and there's no way they're giving premium toys to their budget sporty brand and that's all there is to it.

so you think that us on here saying what options we would like will convince VAG group to put these options on future cars?

sorry mate but really?

Hypothetical.

I have nothing to do with SEAT, VAG or any associated company (except as a customer who spent less than I would have done if more options were available).

I agree that the marketing strategies of the VAG group will influence all decisions.

However, any business is exists to make a profit. If SEAT perceives an opportunity to drive profits up by selling more optional extras then they will, VAG permitting.

Demonstrating a demand is the first stage in getting things made available. There are costs involved in making anything available. It needs evidence that enough people would pay the price.

No - you read it wrong mate - i am saying there's NO chance of it happening, none whatsoever. I mean there's no chance of convincing SEAT because the decision is out of their hands and you've even less chance of VAG listening to you because they want you to spend your hard earned on their premium brands.

personally i have found the speakers in my mk1 to be fairly good, but an uprated system would be a nice option to have

personally i feel the one thing letting the leon down in the cupra r is it should be more of a track version of the car akin to the megane RS, so LSD would be nice to see along with a suspension and exhaust package as well as a remap as well would be nice

overall i think the leon is pretty decent myself, i love the seats in the cupra for the few minutes i have sat in one but i am looking at buying in the near future

The more relevant question is "what options would you want, and how much more would you be prepared to pay?"

GTD had XDS just after the FL Leon FR TDi was launched I think MY10 but XDS is standard on the Leon but not the Golf :D
