Yea i rang and confirmed the price its £120 for fitting regardless of time taken and £700 for all the parts, they said they will do it for £800 altogether.
Its definitely the uprated sachs clutch kit, confirmed this also, they buy the kits in bulk as they do alot of them, thats why its so cheap.

Hey Laser,

Is it an Sachs organic uprated clutch? Are they fitting this to an OEM dual mass flywheel all for 800? Are they replacing any other bits like the master slave? Sounds like a great deal!

Hi Daz

Yea its the sachs organic uprated clutch kit. The flywheel they use is a OEM dual mass, they replace the release bearing aswell and yes £800 includes everything above and fitting. Im booked in to get it done next tuesday i can let you know how i get on.

Great stuff, keep us updated on this.. could be booking my car in there pretty soon!

Hi again Daz
Got that clutch fitted in my car today. It only took them about 3 hours to fit it.
Clutch is a small bit heavier than the standard one and the biting point is a bit different but other than that its fine.
Had a 3 and a half hour drive home, driving it hard at times to test it out, and i cant fault the clutch, seems to be a very good kit
They fit this kit on all the 6 speed golfs leons etc running big power (240bhp+) and they have had no complaints yet. They said i should never have to change the clutch again.
I was very happy with the service there aswell very friendly and had no promblems answering any questions i had, they know there stuff.
If you getting a clutch i would recomend getting it done here.

Is it noticeably heavier? What is the new biting point like? any noise difference? sounds like I'll be going for the same clutch as you mate!

Its a small bit heavier, nothin to complain about.
The bitting point is the same as my old clutch not to low or not to high.
Its just a bit more sudden at bitting, hard to hold the car on the clutch on a hill compared to the old clutch but im getting used to it now.

I paid £1122 for my clutch but it was the Stage 2 Daily Driver as they didnt have the Stage 1 in stock. The stage one is £1062 IIRC. Also cost me £110 to have it fitted so not much more than that sachs and dual mass. Also the southbend is SMF and silent aswell, and it truely is silent.

ah damn, mines 1100 all in including fitting and gearbox oil done. Was the clutch pedal any heavier with the southbend?

The SACHS Clutch Kit for DMF is only rated to 250 ft/lbs of torque ( http://www.myturbodiesel.com/1000q/clutch-kit-FAQ-VW-Audi.htm ), so anyone wanting any real power will have to look elsewhere. The cars which haven't had problems must be running less torque than this, and 250 ft/lbs is not much.

edit: even if the SACHS Clutch Kit for DMF can hold upto 300 ft/lbs, allowing for a conservative figure from TDIblog's rating, that's still not much.

Just because they said "240 BHP", they could have been exaggerating and/or the rolling road could read high, the map/tune could be set for low torque (i.e. Clutch Saver), etc., as if I had a diesel tuned to 240BHP I would expect at least 300 ft/lbs of torque and would kill a SACHS uprated DMF clutch no problem.

If you want that much Real power (i.e. a genuine 240 BHP with torque to match, i.e. 300-350 ft/lbs), then this clutch is not going to hold

I can't answer any of that :) I know people have recommended in the past that people fit a standard PD150 clutch to a 1.8T as an upgrade, because I've read that the standard 1.8T clutch is rated for less than the 300ftlb of the PD150...

1.8T AUQ 240mm flywheel and ARL 240mm clutch + pressure plate are compatible?

Not all of them. Sachs flywheels have 6 x 9mm bolts and can only run specific pressure plates, LUK flywheels have 12 x 6mm bolts ad can only run their respective type of pressure plate. So the gearbox has to be removed from the car and type of "stock flywheel" identified before the clutch kit (disk + pressure plate + throwout bearing) is ordered.

LUK makes 2 types of pressure plates, one for LUK flywheel, one for Sachs flywheel. Sachs make only pressure plates for their own flywheel.

The 240mm clutch disk is the same for AUQ/ARY/AMK/BAM engines, code 06A141032Q. 240mm disk for ARL (1.9TDI/150) is 038141032G.

But LUK has a single code of disk for all 240mm clutches, regardless of them being fitted on 1.9TDIs or 1.8Ts, and that is LUK 324 0559 10. Same specs, 240mm diameter, 23
splines, 21,8X24,3 hub. Also there is a single code for all LUK pressure plates for LUK flywheel, regardless of engine, and another single code for all LUK pressure plates for Sachs flywheel.

Did some investigations in preparation for changing my own clutch.

1. LUK makes a single 240mm clutch kit compatible to all 1.8Ts / 4wd 1.9TDIs / 1.9TDI/150, code 624 3034 33. Replaced from VIN number ended in ...016270 with LUK 624 3034 34 (different slave cylinder ratio, easier operation).

2. Out of aftermarket clutches:

- ECS Tuning Stage 1 / 2, F1 Racing and Neuspeed N2 are all 228 mm clutches;
- ClutchMasters FX100 requires single mass flywheel;
- Awesome / Helix kit requires HF 9282 single mass flywheel.

Haha. £110 for 5 hours work for me. The clutch pedal feels the exact same tbh, no different. Perfect clutch i think.

Ash might be retracting this statement as his since been through 2 of them, which is a joke for a stage 1 map. Everyone cross southbend off your list.
