One thing I don't like about my Altea

Hi all,
This is just a winge about how annoying the fuel filler cap is! My previous Seat would lock the fuel flap with the central locking, no need to fiddle with a key: unlocking car was unlocking fuel flap. I just don't see the sense in the 'easy-access-flap-but-lockable-cap-system.' Or is it just me?
Anyway, great car none-the-less.
Right, rant over.

It seems they just removed the central locking part for the fuel flap. Perhaps it could be just fitted back on. Anyone got the part number for the solenoid, I bet the wireing for the lock is still in place!

At least thieving fuel robbers should know by now that the Altea cap is key locked - it takes half a second and a small jemmy or screwdriver to pop most 'central-locked' fuel flaps and get direct access to the filler pipe so they should target 'less secure' vehicles - a small price to pay fiddling at the pump for the knowledge that your £70+ fuel is a bit safer than the car parked nearby!

Agreed, it is a nuisance at the pump having to take the keys out the ignition to take the cap off but having experienced the other possibility, ie. standing at the pump with only vapours left in my tank and realising that the fuel filler flap hasn't unlocked due to a faulty solenoid, I can assure you I prefer the keys approach!

I think that the locking fuel cap is a good idea, for the amount of time people use them I can't beleive that people stress about having to take the key out of the ignition. The best thing you can do at a petrol station is make sure you dont leave your key in the ignition.

There's far more irritating things about the Altea in my opinion, like the gash visibility and weak reversing light
