Hey guys

Had a few issues with the car during the week. On tuesday it decided to go BANG whilst switching gears at granny speeds! Luckily, it was nothing serious and was just a pipe that had come loose. Not sure of the technical term for the pipe, but it's the one which comes out of the inlet manifold and down to the intercooler I believe?

The pipe was reconnected by the RAC dude as I had no tools and we also found some oil inside....he mentioned this could be a turbo problem?! But also said this could be due to me attempting to start the car whilst it was broken down.

He cleaned out any oil and said keep an eye on it. I did just that and have now found burnt oil in the pipe?!

Now, is this normal? Isit serious? And, what's the name for this damn pipe cos I need to get an uprated one!

Thanks!

is it the pipe from the intercooler that goes to the throttle body and inlet manifold....?
probably something to do with the PCV system as that vents into the inlet manifold.

It's the red one at the bottom that goes into the inlet...just where it bends is another pipe joined which seem's to have been cut by the previous owner. I keep on finding used oil in the join!

Any help guys?

Also, apologies for using someone elses engine bay pic!

There's always oil in that pipe, I took my stock intercooler out when I was replacing it with a FMIC, and it had a fair bit of oil in it, and the pipes also, it's normal.

Just get a decent hose clip on the connection and tighten it up well, if it's the stock pipes, and it's been cut, consider getting them replaced.

Hope this helps mate.

Depends how much oil there is. Shouldn't be so much that it's dripping out.

Cheers for the input guys. It was minimal oil and nothing to worry too much about as I'm not losing a great deal of amounts. Have been checking oil levels daily...

Has anyone replaced these parts? If so, were they uprated? Pricewise, how much am I looking at?

Thanks!

Hi mate, if you buy a Forge FMIC, you get the whole pipework kit included, even a map sensor pipe to replace the plastic standard one!

If you wanted to just uprate the hoses only on the standard setup, your most likely looking around £50-70 for the pipes & clips.
