Oil change warning

Hi guys,

I've recently had a 'change oil' warning light come up on my dash. I just wanted to know does this mean service or just an oil change? Car has just hit 10k, only 5 months old. I have got 2 years free servicing with Seat, but didn't know whether that means I just get 2 services or just whatever servicing it needs within the 2 year period regardless of mileage. If it did just mean 2 services also didn't really want to waste one of them on just an oil change if that's all that it is.

Any help would be appreciated :)

I'm guessing the car is running on a fixed service regime, every 10k miles or 12 months? You've hit 10k miles so the car is reminded you to get a service.

If you're doing 10k in 5 months then I'd probably get your 2 free services in and then switch to a variable/long life service regime.

Look in the car setup menu and scroll down to service. You should see what the counters are indicating there.

My 184 FR is on a long life/variable service regime and both the oil and inspection service indicators are usually in sync or within 1K miles of each other.

No it's definetly change oil.

Originally it came up saying 'oil change due in 1000 miles' then counted down every 100 miles, but me being me, and commuting 100 miles a day and then going away on holiday for a week I have just got back, done a few more days at work and it's now on 'change oil now' or 'oil change due' can't remember exactly what it says, one of them though.

Car is a Cupra 280, after next week, should only be doing around 90 miles a week, so mileage shouldn't be an issue after that.

Sounds like you've got to the 10,000 mile servicing interval. If you thought you were on longlife then you should discuss with your dealer.
