oil and coolant change opinions

after finding some gunk in the expansion tank ( already checked and its not the head gasket) i've booked the car in for a good flushing, is it important to use G12 coolant as it states in the hand book?
Also the oil needs a top up so is it worth getting an oil and filter change while its there even though the oil is still golden in colour? i've done 3000 miles since buying the car at the end of january.

and now a cheeky question thats nowt to do with the title:D

yesterday, i went over to Chester Zoo so i managed to "open her up" ;) upto 3000-3500rpm the car was fine, after that it felt a bit flat, i thought it may be the MAF or N75 at fault, no engine lights on dash though,i have a Green Dynatwist and took the cover off to hear the diverter valve better, it's the chav coming out in me:redface:, but today i decided to have a tinker under the bonnet, :censored:ing the car up as the wife calls it, anyway i've put the cover back on and had a tooth brush on the MAF and N75 plugs and now everything seems back to normal:confused: could the air filter been at fault? or do you think it could have been dirt on the plugs?

using a tooth brush on the maf is not recommended. They are very easy to ruin.

sounds like the oil doesnt need a change, more topping up to the correct level. Do you know for sure what oil its got in there and when it was last done?
If not you may change it for your own peace of mind.

Regarding coolant, yes its important to use G12, (or if not coolant that meets VWs specifications - you have been warned). but the G12 isnt that pricey anyway, even from a dealer, (you then dilute it to a 50% mixture - and dont be tempted to put in 60% as this is actually less effective) :)

Suppose he could ask the guy selling it if its sealed. Great price though :)

sealed or not...

ive seen a few counterfeit goods in my time and at one of my previous employers a market queried a product because the print quality 'was better than normal'. in every way it was perfect except the print was very good! - it did indeed turn out to be counterfeit.
Hey ive even seen counterfeit toothpaste that had toxic ingredients, but looking at the packaging tube etc you would never have know.

And dont think people have morals, medicines for children are not even exempted. Just look at the toxic baby milk scandal.

Im not saying dont use ebay... im just saying keep an open mind, think what you are buying, what you are saving and potential consequences.

Fair play. That guy selling it though is only selling the one container. He most likely bought it and doesnt need it.

I see what your saying though.

This is top quality stuff, that I can gurantee....but not the cheapest oil about.

bloody hell :-o i want oil not gold!!

mind you i'm not used to buying decent oil, my last turbo'd car was a Rover 620Ti and didn't last long enough to change the oil :cartman: other than that the most recent cars i've had only warranted "poundland oil"

i think my paternity leave has just been cancelled in lieu of some overtime :cartman:
