lol, mine went the other day as well, 03 sport model, so will try the badge hitting exercise to see if it helps.
Does seem temp related as i've had no problems until now.
I can lift the badge up and sometimes opens when i turn the key, but it does seem very stiff and clunks when it locks/unlocks.
I'll add this to my ever growing list of MK4 Ibiza faults:
1) Instrument panel failure of fuel guage, outside temp and engine temp = brand new instrument cluster replaced under warranty.
2) Cup holder broken, still haven't got round to fixing it.
3) Overly hard seats with no lumbar support that kill your back on long drives.
4) Ridiculously long doors that make parking in multi stories a headache as you risk hitting walls/cars trying to get in/out, resulting in bolster wear on seats as you can't open door wide enough to get in!
5) Rear screen washer constantly packing up.
6) Tailgate boot lock packed up.
I'll be selling mine soon as the seats are killing my back, almost every car i've owned has had sports seats but none of them are as uncomfortable as in my tdi sport.
I also need something bigger, but will be miss the economy the most.
