Odd / Suspect Steering ... HELP!!!

OK,

So, after collecting my new (To me) Leon 2 weeks ago and being very, very happy with it, I think there may be a problem with it (Possibly).

When driving the car will suddenly lurch to the right a little, the only way I can describe it is that it feels like a very, very strong side wind has caught the car. This is most pronounced when driving at speed but also happens when driving at slower speeds. The car is, as yet, completely unmodified and is a 56 plate 1.9 TDI Stylance.

So, I suspect it could be 1 of 2 things, but I'm probably wrong:

1. The car is very susceptible to side winds
2. The car has an issue with the steering rack in some way

Does anyone have any experience with this? Have any ideas what might be going on?

Thanks!

Did you get a 3m warranty with it?, what sort of tyres fitted? try the VAG Com section, see if there is a person near you who can do some tests for you also try other VAG Marque web sites for simlar "faults"
Good luck

Hi,

Thanks for the info, the car has a full 1 year AA warrranty on it, so if there is a fault it should be covered!

As far as the tyres go, they have about 1.5mm of useful tread left before tey need replacing, so a total of roughly 3mm.

I'm going to go and investigate VAG faults now! Will a scan show up a fault with the steering though?

It may do I do not know enough about VAG Com or the depth it can go but I'm sure SOMEONE must know more!!!! - try posting a thread under the VAG COM section.
The other thing I have just thought of is Suspension bushes and or has it been in a shunt - the latter I hope not. You mentioned the AA did they do a survey or was it bought "off the peg"??
