The only problem is Android is crap, you need a user manual to manage connecting to anything. And when eventually you do get connected some feature will not work properly.

I have no trouble with Android, it is easy to use and works so much better than IOS. Pairing with the dongle is a case of turn on Bluetooth, find the device and put in the code. Not exactly tricky!

the only people that claim Android is pants are the die-hard Apple fanboi's. If it was that bad then i'm sure most phone manufacturers would have dropped it a long time ago

iphone and apple in general are different, and most people are afraid of different.

Not sure I follow mate, Apple and IPhone have been hugely popular recently because they are easy to use and uniform. With no disrespect to anyone, Apple always struck me as a 'my first smartphone' device.

But this is all just opinion. Each to their own etc. When all is said and done, an IPhone will not work with a Bluetooth reader.

Agreed, we went off topic here.
I still cant manage to connect my fr tfsi with my nexus7. It pairs with the tablet but when I open torque it wont connect to the ECU.

That would suggest the reader is either knackered or not connected properly. Took a few goes when scanning a friends Mazda 6, ended up just unplugging (whilst paired) then plugging straight back in. Worked a treat. Good luck with it though!

Try turning Bluetooth off and on again whilst the device is connected. At some stage you will have to input one of the connection codes1234, 0000, 6789 etc. Also in the settings make sure you have selected the default device OBDII.

By the looks of things you can make it work with a apple device, providing its jailbroken and has cydia, then you need roqyBT.

My only question is once the device is paired to the OBD2 bluetooth can you still play music over bluetooth at the same time. Im assuming not because that would mean being paired to two devices at the same time. Kind of a deal breaker imo.

Thanks for the info, will go check in Cydia straight away and report if it works.

I sat in my car for half an hour today and had no luck in connecting anything!
Tried on the iphone with the hack from Cydia and it paired with the obd but once I opened dash-command it couldn't connect to the car.
Same happened on my Android device.
Pairs to the obd but once I open Torque Pro it says that its connected to the obd device but that it can nit communicate with the car.
Dont know what to do next.
Tried turning off and on everything several times with no luck.
I know the bluetooth device works cause it used to work with my previous car.
I'm considering purchasing a wifi device but dont want to risk it and go through all this again.
Any recommendations.

Sounds stupid, but have you checked that the obdII connected to the diag port? Are there lights flashing on the unit/ is it switched on (depending on which one you have)? If you have tried and checked, you might have a duff one.

The WiFi ones should work with apples. Don't think they are that pricey anymore.

I have a ELM 327 mini bluetooth dongle. Like the one in the pic from Rob.
I first go to settings/ bluetooth/ pair with obd-II, type in password and then I open an app.
