OBD Tuning

Looking for some advice regarding stage 1 tunes via OBD port.

I've been looking at Litchfield stage 1 tune and wondered if anyone has had any experience of working with them? I've heard they are pretty reputable. They tune via OBD port and not physical hardware which is my preference. Very decent figures too; 385ps / 500 Nm and that's based on the 320ps so the 333ps figures could possibly achieve higher.

Trouble is Litchfield's tuning workshop is miles away from me in Tewkesbury. I'm based in Cheshire. I may still go down to them, however could anybody recommend a reputable VAG tuning company in the North West area – preferably tuning via OBD port? Or good DIY companies?

Cheers

Racingline or Revo both do a good stage one maps for the VAG Group but you will have to check it they have one for your car.

Thanks for your reply. The two companies you mention both use physical hardware attached to the vehicle. I want to go down the OBD / software route. Do you know anyone, like Litchfield's stage 1 tune, who offer this type of service locally(ish) to me? I'm North West based. Cheers

Whilst I agree stage 2 and 3 require hardware upgrades my understanding is they just install a map, on my car for stage 1 the only hardware required is a Clutch upgrade as they were not designed for extra power.

I also seem to recall on the racingline you can flash at home and certainly on the Revo I have I can use the OBD2 port to change the maps on my car

Thanks for your tips @tracktoy. I'll email Revo and RacingLine to see what they say about ODB port tuning. Their website explaaintion sounds like you need to get the car on a ramp, take off some part under the engine bay and install wiring loom to various bits in the car. And this is just for a stage 1. I'd very much like to avoid this as my car will need to go into Cupra for servicing. The tune will be soon be detected if there is none OEM wiring and a dirty great RacingLine box staring them in the face

You are most welcome but be aware whilst there is no tell tale cables / box's if (and its very unlikely) the garage run a check on your car there are indicators in the system settings that tell them a software update has been applied by a third party
