Hi All,

Anyone tried one of these OBD2 bluetooth adapters, that work with the "Torque" app on android?
Seen someone show me one attatched to a MG and seems fairly cool, shows turbo boost etc...

Wondered if anyone tried one, seen several on ebay but not sure which one to go for?

Not had a look for the connector but im guessing it will be under the steering column somewhere.

I've used one in other cars, they are very good and can provide several readings. I've used Dash Command which is pretty good.

I've had an OBDLink one for a while now - works well with Torque, DashCommand, etc. Recently used it for reading fault codes on a friend's Fiesta to find out why the engine management light kept coming on - turned out the catalyst efficiency was below the threshold.

The connector on the Leon is under the dash, just to the right of the steering column. Not covered up at all.

Most of the adapters out there do the same thing to be honest, but I've heard quite a few people complaining about poor quality and reliability with the <£10 eBay ones, but some others last for ages. Luck of the draw on those, really.

What a coincidence! :)

My "NewNow ODB II Scan Mini" arrived today. Purchased from a UK supplier on ebay for the princely sum of £5.29, including delivery. Ordered late Monday evening, dispatched yesterday and delivered today.

I downloaded the free version of the Torque app onto my Nexus 7 tablet and had a quick go. It appears to let me see and clear stored fault codes (none reported) which was my main requirement. The real-time instrumentation seems to report sensible values as well.

Word to the wise: The device is powered even when the ignition is off and the key removed and the bluetooth pairing code is public knowledge. I am not sure if it is possible to control the central locking or flash the ECU via this device but I am not prepared to take any chances. I would be annoyed if someone else simply wiped any stored fault codes before I got chance to view them.

At home
This was the reason all those top end beemers were getting stolen, the port was live when the car was off.

I just bought the ELM327 device on Ebay and received yesterday. If you're an Apple user please make sure the ELM327 device is WIFI and NOT the bluetooth version! ELM327 bluetooth does not work with Apple products as i found out yesterday (damn it!) I downloaded the DashCommand app yesterday and purchased the ELM327 wifi version off Ebay today.

The bluetooth version will only work with your Apple product if it is jailbroken!

Search for 'ELM327 wifi'. It's like £11 something free delivery.

Thought i'd add this so noone orders the wrong one like i did and waste time. Back to the Leon Mk2 section i go! lol :)
