The Story:

Didn't notice it at first parked down the side in the darkness of the carpark. I was initially impressed because the bumper now looked the same colour as the bonnet which it wasn't from SEAT.

Went to SEAT in the afternoon to discuss a few things, the rear bumper in particular which was still orangey brown. As the two guys from the dealers were examining it it bacame apparant that the wing was plainly different to the door, in fact the old guy who questioned the bumper initially said 'I didn't like to say anything but ..'. Of course, because the bonnet and the wing were painted the same colour I never noticed it at first and now it was in the sunshine it is more noticeable.

The garage didn't question the dodgy paint and are arrangeing for an ICI guy to inspect it and colour match the car, then respray it all. But that's another 3 weeks down the drain. Iv'e only driven it 2 days :crying:

Im sure they say that with all colours! Im sorry to hear about it mate, the garage I sent mine to to get some body damage sorted, did the colour perfect first time, and even colour coded my bump strips for free :D

Hope it gets all sorted for ya soon, so you can drive such a great car!

Thanks SparkSter, goes to show they can do it when they try. Also helps when Stevie Wonder isn't doing the final inspection :shades:

One bonus though, SEAT have agreed to have the bumper resprayed by the repair garage so that the paint finish is consistent. Otherwise could end up with the same problem when SEAT have a go on their bit! plus less hassle.

Still rather it had come from the factory one colour though.

Garage is organising the ICI man on Monday, then it will take min week to book it in the garage again, then another week to respray it. Going on previous experience this means October then probably!
They did say they would give me a courtesy car while it's in, so that might spur them on.

Thanks Flapper, you're right about the light, it was more noticeable the sunnier it got. In fact what was more surprising was that when I arrived home last night in the dark with only some street lighting, I could see the difference in colour with the bumper even more so, it stood out like a sore thumb.

Might well do that Tiny, in fact I might get them do a Hammerite job instead, that'll keep the stonechips away :D

Seriously though I had more accidents since I've become the sensible law abiding old fart of a citizen, than when I was a street racing lad! (which incedentally is was none) I think it's safer just to go faster than everyone else and sitting in the outside lane of the motorway and basically sticking two fingers up at the highway code like everybody else :drive1:

.. since then quite a bit. Westgate finally got it right - well 99.8%, if you were mister eagle eyes you might notice but probably not. Ironically, since then SEAT approved my warranty dodgy paintwork and now its just had the same bit done again! , bumpers, wings, spoiler all blended in. Does look much better for it, somebody who actually knew what they were doing got it just about right. Though the rear bumper still hasn't turned out 100%, I am now in the process of complaining to SEAT UK, not just for crap factory finish but for the hassle, time and plain farse that has lead up to this moment.

This is what really rubbed it in, this was my courtesy car for a week:

Suffice to say that I'm not happy with SEAT and expected more, especially considering I've bought 4 cars off them :( . It's a good job the Beefer is REVO'd and it's addictively fun when you're actually driving it

You certainly would.

Personally I think there is no excuse for dodgy painted plastic parts, whether it be VAG trait or body shop repair. My 5 year old Ford Focus doesn't have a problem
