Hey .... put my green cotton induction kit on today and all was running ok sounded awsome aswell.... took it for a spin (1mile) come back into my garage and could smell oil i think opened the bonnet when it was still running and theere was little puffs of smoke coming from the oil filter ( the little breather pipe ) does anyone know wot the hell it could be ? maybe coz its new . headgasket ?

help would be apprecited

I had similar problem when put an induction kit. mate kinda sorted it, but after a few months, i removed it and gone back standard

I can't find the right lead for my camera I'm afraid, so I can't get the pics onto the computer...I was going to write a guide if anyone is interested?

edit: Has anyone else had a letter from the Dsa refunding 10 quid of your saturday test fee? Apparently they made a legal error and have to refund the extra charged on saturdays since November 2005. 10 quid makes me happy.

fcuknafe, i have done some reading and im not too sure on your issue but for mine i will deffinately be installing a catch tank and i think that will sort it.

I've been doing a night full of mindnumbing searching around mate. As i said not sure if it will sort your issue. But im now 98% sure itll solve mine and i dont think an install is too tricky with the right parts. I think i have caused my problem as well according to forge. High mileage/high revving....as i've only done 50,000 miles i think i may have a heavy right foot.

I am hopefully going to get it sorted this weekend mate.

High millage ... mines onli done 53k aswell (2000reg) that aint high lol or have you put 50k on the car since youve had it? as for heavy right foot its gotta be done in a small engined car and a large one 2 haha lol well theres a thread on her soo im goin to try and make my own one

I'm just repeating what forge say. The exact line was: over revving, turbocharged, high mileage...so i was only putting the two that might apply to me lol!

fcuknafe do you know anywhere that will do a good heat shield for our filter, i shoulve made one at uni but just didnt get round to it.

EDIT: Might design one on CAD software tonight and email it to a fabricators to get a price. Will keep you informed if you like?

I will do a drawing for the main filter mate, and send it off to them tommorow. As soon as i hear back from them ill let you know.

I've already forked out on a tank. Do you know where the tank plumbs into, as ive got mixed views?

any idea on the size you want? the company im emailing sell catch tanks anyway for 35.00. I bought mine from ebay for the same price, but it came with alot of other parts.

that one mate. Right so you want a price for a heat shield for filter, and for catch tank breather?

I was thinking of sending them two designs for the main filter, a cyclindrical typical one, and box shape one with air feed hole? what you reckon?

yeeer that sounds good. mate am i write in all the catch tank does is catch dripping oil from the breather filter? if soo a can cut in have with a few mods would work wouldnt it?

I suppose so, if you look at my thead about it though by clicking my profile. I think as my oil is not recirculating its now getting passed into the main filter, so im trying to work out where mines going to go to basically catch oil thats not recycled, and vaporise some of it, using a breather filter on it i think.

sooo its actually starting spitting oil out of the little filter on to the main filter has it? it has done some millage to aint it. im just going to use a make do can for now becuase im skint with my install lol
