right i have a 2002 leon cupra 180 standard.
i have a whirring noise from the front end from 30mph to 45mph,it sounded like a wheel bearing so its had all 4 bearings changed and the front discs and pads.
now they think it may be the gearbox.but the noise can change by turning from side to side and braking and its also there when coasting at 40mph in neutral.
any one else had this, final drive gearbox or cv problems???
many thanks

Sounds like a cv joint issue to me if it can be changed by steering from side to side.

The proper way to check CV joints is to go onto full lock and accelerate gently, if they are knackered they will click. If its only one then you can tell which by repeating with the lock different ways.
