Low coolant level and/or air in the system?

Sounds like its only just pushing the coolant round the system when the engine is doing decent revs, which would only be noticeable at prolonged higher revs, such as 60/70 on a suitable road.

Maybe thermostat is stuck open, and unles the engine is worked hard, the coolant does not keep the heat long enough to get round to the heater matrix, as it would get cooled by the radiator 1st.

just a few thoughts :)

aLso when I'm at 60-70 for meat driving the temp gage goes to the three quaters mark and can go in to the red. When that happens I have go easy for a few mins until it cools down

Well it seems teeth got rid of it and passed the issue on to me. Joy. Let's hope it isn't the head gasket.

I just ran the car for 5 mins with the expansion lid off and I was struggling to find any water in there. Can I just top it up with tap water or does it need to be special stuff ?

Can't see any creamy **** around the oil top

:(
