Well so far ive not had the best of luck with seat ownership lol. Ive had my 05 reg leon fr tdi just over a month and so far its done the blowing the fuse trick so the windows and mirrors dont work, the washer pipe coming off givig me a boot full of washer fluid trick and then someone decided to crash into me!!

But just when i thought it was calming down and everything was getting sorted the glow plug light started flashing on the dash. It didnt start to run badly so carried on til i got home. Turned it on and off a few times but made no difference so came on her and had a look.

Now after doing a few searches it was mentioned the brake lights not working so i went and checked and supprise supprse ive got no brake lights.

Now im stuck, surely all 3 bulbs cant have gone so ive done another search and the brake light switch?? keeps getting mentioned. From the symtoms ive described could it be this switch and where does it live so i can take it off and replace it

thanks in advance, any help WILL be apreciated

the glow plug light comes on when the brake switch fails. this means that your brake lights are either constantly on or not working.

had this checked out on my mates Golf...VAG-com should be able to clear the light once you've fixed the switch

Could be, not too familiar with the diesels but order a new switch, replace and maybe reset your ECU with removal of the negative battery terminal for 30 mins and see if the light returns. Might be worth asking in the VAG-Com section though if anyone local can read your codes in the meantime.

this must be whats up with the mrs's ibiza. checked bulbs and fuses, are all ok. brake lights arent working at all grr
ordered one off e bay for 7 quid posted. hope this fixes it. also have the glow plug light flashing, doesnt seem to start until the brake pedal has been pressed so guess its picking up that they arent working.

check and see if your center brake light is working. this happened on my bor and it was the two side brake light bulbs had gone

I've just had this on my '03 Ibiza TDi.

Strange that both bulbs had blown, presumably at the same or similar time.
