The informed choice

30-50mm drop. What's not to like. You will obviously end up as a social lepper but you will have the last laugh tanning the ar$e off people who have shyte cheap coilover set ups!

Have been looking at the Weitecs, so you think this is a better setup than the AP's (made by KW same as Weitec) that are a full coilover set and about 50quid more?

Spring / damper set up: Once set up, always 100% until worn. Less adjustment = less to go wrong. Probably will last longer. Won't corrode and then seize like many cheap and unmaintained coilovers will do.

Fact more moving parts generally = more maintenance required.

If they can give you coilovers for the price of spring/damper set up I would be deeply concerned about long term build and reliability. Where's the catch?!?!?!

Manufacturers can make this kit dirt cheap, but they quality standards of manufacture may be lower, the materials less well / rigourously tested. Just because it is owned by KW doesn't mean KW factory ever sees it, and its probably made under license by crack wh0res in a favella in brazil or something ;-)

I am to the spring/damper combination what Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall is to free range chicken!!!

It's your car mate so you choose away, but I wouldn't buy coilovers that cost less than a grand to supply and fit - period, and that was if I could justify the need.

Class, havent seen Waynes in the flesh yet, but from a few pics it does look very nice, how much did you pay for the AP's Sooty? I put a message up in the Meets section to see when the next Kingson VAG meet is...let me know mate.

Looks like im going to end up getting a set of Audi TT 312mm brakes with Ferodo DS2500 pads for a very good price! Coilovers can wait for the moment!

Found a second hand setup off another forum. Look in good nick and they were on a mk3 before of all the modifications have been done to them to just bolt them straight on....fingers crossed!

Callipers do need painting though, they are just black and 'orrible from the pics

Quick update, brakes won the day, just completed my purchase for the Audi TT front brake setup. Comes with the callipers (need to paint red), discs, braided TT lines and a brand new set of Ferodo ds2500 pads! Got the lot for 220quid including delivery. Good price i think as the discs have had less than 1000miles on them and are already drilled to 4stud fitment and the pads are still in their box!

Will post pics when they arrive :D

Thinking of a set of Weitec springs and dampers with a fixed drop. Not all that expensive, around the 300quid mark. Will have to wait until im back from my trip to Japan then get things moving again if i have any cash left! Will probably get spacers done at the same time. Ibiza's look great when lowered!
