Greetings folks, been reading the forum with interest over the past few months as ive just got my hands on a 2006 fr+ with 21,000 on the clock in grey, spent 3 months looking for the perfect one, theres not a mark on it.
Im no stranger to modded cars, in the past Ive owned a seriously modded mk2 golf and a corrado but ive had a few years off and things have moved on a bit...and its me first Seat.
So ive got a few questions, if you could take the time to help me out :funk:

1- I want to change the head unit from standard to my Alpine, I know I need the blanks either side but is a case of simply removing the standard unit and wiring up/fitting the alpine ? I seem to recall in a post I read somewhere that you need to a do a bit more, buy summit extra or something

2-Ive read about chassis set ups for the seat, dont wanna go too OTT, those days are gone, but like the sound of adding the s3 strut braces.....what is it exactly that I need and will the engine cover still fit with the upper brace on ? Also if I add the s3 bits, are eibach roll bars still worth fitting ? I had these on my mk2 golf and they were awesome.

3-I read on the tdi's that its only the backbox on the exhaust that "restricts" the power and theres no need to replace the full system, is that right ? if so what exhaust do you FR guys favour ?.....and what air filter ? I dont plan to get it remapped for around 6 months...we'l see :D

regards Neil

This could be the aerial amplifier as the SEAT ones tend to have one built in

Yes it will fit with the S3 brace on. You need the brace, 8 nuts and 8 bolts (all Audi supplied). Yes ARB's and a dog bone are worth doing.

1. All you need is the faceplate adapter and probably an aerial booster. I didn't fit a booster when I fitted my Alpine X100 and it hardly finds any stations. The ones it does find are ropey too. Only other thing to remember is swap the red and and yellow connections or it won't store any settings.

2. Can't help on that one.

3. Been thinking of treating mine to a mufflerectomy. Gains are apparently minimal but can aid spool up and of course noise!

4. Welcome to SCN :)

1, It should be a straight swap

2, your engine cover may rattle alittle on the upper brace as mine does and just needs the back edge trimming to stop this. heard front and rear arb's are a very good mod to do

3, i have a full turbo back milltek exhaust and it seems to make the turbo spool up abit lower in the rev range, Air filter wise panel filters are most commonly used on the tdi's

hope this helps you abit

Hi Neil, welcome! Being fairly new to this forum (18 months) I can say that there are a great bunch of guys on here and I've found it very helpful, so good luck!

1. Changed the standard HU to a Parrot bluetooth HU, had to fit an aerial amp, otherwise no problems.
2. Bought some (cheap) TA Technics coil overs & after experimenting with the front spings am now REALLY pleased with them. Also fitted 25mm Eibach ARB's front & rear + polybushed the front arms & dog bone mount. Car is now handling very good, dog bone took a while to 'settle down' & initially pi$$ed the wife off but 6 months on & its now acceptable. Car also has 19" wheels with 235/35 tyres.
3. As the exhaust system has a cat, a small front box & the MASSIVE rear box, with being a turbo I new that even with no exhaust system it wouldn't be mega noisy, so I had a Cupra R tail pipe (from a kind member) and welded it to a straight pipe, cut off the back box & replaced it with the pipe. The result is a lovely deep note & a crazy turbo noise when changing gear! Seems to be more responsive but as the car has a Dragon Power tuning box its mega responsive anyway - wheelspin city, also have a Green Cotton panel filter fitted. As the exhaust was basically an FOC job, if you have the tools, etc I'd do it. As for spending £££££'s on a system - definately not!

Nice one folks, not looking to change the "zorst" just yet, but out of interest does de-cat/back boxless system increase noise (exhaust note) I had a scorpion group N on my mk2 golf, although it sounded great and gurgled/rasped ect... I dont want anything as harsh as that again, I like "peace" in side the car apart from music ;)
Im ordering a phantom 1 oil temp/boost guages and a pilar twin pod next week, was thinking of getting an arm rest, are these arm rests easy to fit ? Any chance of a piccy of one already intalled, I dont want one if it looks like a tacky "add on".

Hmmm.....:( Dont mind noisey exhaust as long as its big power that is causing it, mine certainly wont be anywhere near 300php+ so that counts me out, God bless the peco and 1.2 corsa's :D

I think you need a good root around on here with the search facility.

Loads on here recent and not so recent especially on the exhausts and arbs.

You might have a more focused audiance if you also post TDI specifics in the TDI section.

Enjoy :)

The last day I had off was Christmas Day. If I'm lucky I might get Saturday the 31st off but definately will be off on the 1st of February. By then its too late and the deadline has passed.

Oh to spend an afternoon in the pub or something....
