I can see this is an old thread, which is good for the next question. I have a seat leon fr tfsi 200bhp and am thinking of getting the ecu remmap done taking it to 250bhp does the remap shorten the life of the car. As I dont won't to ruin a good reliable fast car. Would just like it a little faster :)

Knock out precat and go custom stage 1.5 or shark remap I have one and am very pleased with it. Or go stage 2 but to be honest on the tfsi the jump from stage 1.5 to 2 isnt much.

Have lost the backbox in favour of a stainless tailpipe think is I take the cat out it will be far to loud, are ecu remaps safe though? I don't want to do any damage to my much loved car. Its already faster than anything standard with silver wing mirrors lol

Remap should be fine mate, just make sure you keep on top on maintenance. Stage 1 is about 230-260hp depending who does it. The more aggressive the map the higher the wear on clutch etc.

If you get rid of the pre-cat and fit a larger downpipe you should free up some power, but the main cat (the one that actually matters in the uk) remains in place.

I would take it to a reputable tuner, such as R-tech or a good Revo/APR dealer and they should perform a health check before mapping.

Mine was mapped before I bought the car and that was about 30k miles ago in Feb 2014. The problems I have had so far appear to be those that affect all Leons, mapped or stock, so my experience is get it mapped
