Hi had my test drive today and was so disapointed in it.Its says its 240 brake but didnt seem like there was no were near that amount.I have a lcr mk1 and would much rather that.Mines seems alot faster but has 15 brake less??.Also the amount of plastic inside the new one was a bit to much for me.Any one else got any views on this

the new Lc is surpose to be hot?
im surprised what you said about (feeling slow)
its ment to be grunty...
and with a remap people are seeing 300bhp from them (air filter exsuast)
everyone says to me (ie mk2 leon owners) they will fly pass cupra R. standard vs standard?

im yet to drive one... there growing on me like mad.
will have to get down to the dealers!

They kept the torque fairly low on the Mk2 to stop the comic's from moaning about torque steer

You have to grab the Mk2 by the balls & rev it (as standard) not be lazy like in the 1.8T LCR

Yes. And they are the opposite of yours. A MK2 Leon Cupra is faster than a MK1 Leon Cupra R whether both are mapped or both are standard. In fact, mine as standard has proved itself to be faster than a mapped MK1 LCR. Ask Rico or Willie from the MK1 section if you dont believe me ;)

Also, 1/4 mile time for mine was 14.3 @ 101mph in 100% stock tune and in road trim (not stripped). Willies 210LCR completely stripped of everything (therefore 100kg lighter than it a stock LCR) with 210bhp made 14.5 @ 99mph on the same strip today. This LCR also sports some 888's too for an excellent 60 foot time.

The LCR is a great and fast car, but the MK2 LC is faster. As said above, it may not feel torquey, but the torque available is held through the revs therefore giving the impression of feeling "slower". Dont let that fool you though ;)

Coming from a 270bhp meganesport with 330 lbft the cupra felt quite slow but once you get the revs up till around 4500k it does shift, my mate has a stage1 meganesport cup 260bhp and around 270lbft and my cupra is the same speed as that in a straight line and around tight bends

Warwickshire once.
Go and test drive it again and this time press on in lower gears.........seriously make sure you know the roads!!!

Keep your foot in from 4.5K all the way to the red line in a couple of gears.

Also make sure you take it on some nice twisty roads as well.

bear in mind the new Leon will be more refined, and a smoother, quieter engine and car all round. can make it feel a little slower than it is!

Maybe it felt slower due to the linear power delivery, rather than the turbo shove with the 1.8T

I'm suprised that the OP found the MKII felt slower. Maybe it was the fact that the suspension and sound deadening in the MKII give a feeling of comfort that the MKI doesn't.

I'd test drive it again, I had to test drive my last car JCW MINI, 4 times before I was certain it was as fast as my Civic Type R.

The JCW picked up quicker due to the supercharger but following the Type R hitting the vtec it was level peg.

This time I only test drove the Cupra once as I liked the car plus, although it was a hell of a lot more comfortable than both the others it was as quick. Especially as I opened it up through the revs, do as its been mentioned take it out again and get that turbo working properly.

The console is the new in the facelift leons and I believe the steering wheel is the same has the Facelift cupra and FR.

Mk2 is more composed and doesnt shout about it so much.

My LCR didnt feel any faster than my cupra which had much more urgency and instant power. (although i know the LCR IS quicker).
In fact id say the LCR feels lethgargic in comparison, its how it delivers the power..
