New rims have different bolt size

The seller of the link DPJ gave me isn't really responding.

I explain the problem to him, saying I need those inserts which will resize the M14 holes of the rims to M12.
However he answered: It doesn't matter as you hub still has M12 size bolt holes.

SO I replied that I think he doesn't understand what I was telling him, but now he doesn't react...

maybe have to look into getting the bolts machined down where they exit the rim/enter the hub

OLe thanks for taking the time to do this.

So that second to last picture is what you put in the rim hole to make it go from M14 to M12 right?

Because the other pictures of the bolts, just look like regular bolts?

Yea, i think ( can't see pics at work ) i'm unsure on suitability now though. surely with the minimal difference in the 'cup' size you don't need to worry.

i also tried the m14 through a steel rim bolt hole which has m12's as standard and went through the hole.

Ole what are you saying in the post above? M14 bolts will go through the rims but not into the hubs...so need M12 bolts. But that will cause movement of the rim. The link DPJ posted, the seller isn't responding, and his explenation in the actual link is also not clear (no sizes mentioned). Furthermore I can't find other places that sell these things.

SO maybe I need to find a place which will machine m14 bolts down about halfway to M12.

m14 thread will fit through any (pretty much) alloy wheel bolt hole be it m12 or m14 standard application. the only bit you need to worry about is the cup the rim/lip of the bolt sits in.

as stated before i ran my porsche 928 s4 rims on my mk3 golf with m14 and my rallye with m12's with no issues.

i know you're running m12 hubs as i am, my understanding is you seem to think the holes not the cups in your alloy wheels are too big.

i'm saying if a m14 sits fine in the cup around the hole then there's barely 1mm in it. the actual cup part of the bolt from m12 - m14 is hardly noticeable in size.

as long as the cup part around the bolt hole in you're alloy is not too large then there is not a problem,

do you have any pics of the holes and maybe a bolt in them?

I spent quite a while looking at different alternatives on this yesterday....

I agree the above is worth trying, especially if you are happy that the wheel is sitting firmly on the hub spigot......

(are the wheels made for radius or taper bolts? )

Hello DPJ

Yes the rims mount themselves very firmly on the hub spigot. Inside the rim there are circular 'washers' fitted (sorry don;t know how to explain better) which make it sit very snug over hub spigot.

As for if the bolts are radius/taper bolts, is this the same as the difference between conical and non conical bolts? If so, the original cupra wheels use rounded bolts (non conical) where they sit against the rim bolt holes, whereas these BBS rims use flat bolt heads (conical)

When I put the m12 bolts which I am currently using through the BBS bolt holes, it leaves quite a bit of space. That slightly worries me...
As said, I will post pictures tonight, with the current M12 bolts

yes DPJ I will be using conical bolts lol. Or else there will always be 'play' between the hub and rim.

ole thanks again.

watch this space tonight or tomorrow for picture of bolt holes.

Ok first of picture of the OEM non-conical bolt which is not right for the rim

then the space it leaves in the rim bolt hole

As you can see quite some space left to fill

Here you can see the ring I meant which makes it sit nicely on hub spigot. And you can kind of see it needs conical bolts
