Hi all,

New member based in the North West. Currently looking at getting an Ibiza 1.4 ACT FR as a second car, hopefully around the 2014 mark, is there anyone with one who could tell me what they think of it? Or even anyone with a 1.2 FR as I may end up settling for one of them if I can't find what I want.

Welcome. I run a 2015 1.4ACT FR Black Edition, bad points, interior trim is a bit cheap, ride quality on poor roads is awful, good points, it goes like a rocket, handles well on good roads, brakes are good and point to point is quite a quick car. I bought mine as a second car for the wife to use, but it makes me smile that much that i end up using it more! Best run out so far was a cross country route late at night from Yorkshire to Silverstone, and then the reverse trip the next night.

Cheers Rooster! I test drove one for the first time and couldn’t believe how fast it felt going from a 83bhp fiesta. Just got a deposit down on a red 14 plate and if all goes well it’s mine, it has the titanium alloys/ mirrors on it, thinking of getting them done gloss black for the much meaner look of the FR black, what do you reckon?

And if you don’t mind me asking, what sort of mpg figures do you achieve? As this is what attracted me to the 1.4 ACT engine so much, the supposed balance of performance and economy!

Hi, i have this engine in both the Ibiza and a Leon ST, during summer months on decent fuel and a long steady run both easily manage 50+ average for the journey. They both seem to get more mpg on decent fuel ( Shell Optimax etc ) but the downside is it costs a bit more, so probably no financial gain there. As far as modifications go, do it, it's your car! Hope you enjoy it.
