Hi there.

I have just purchased a 1998 Corboda 2.0ltr 16V. Its a beautiful car and drives well. The car has been already modified and lowered with a bodykit.

Will post some pics up when I can but is there anything that I need to know about this car from you experienced guys.

Any help or comments would be appreciated :)

Thanks

hi wellcome to the fun..
nothing really to worry about.
top end of the end can sound a bit rattley some time s but thats normal. the only thing to look for is the rad leaking down the edges new rad anything from 50/100 quid ish. and the rear arches rust if not looked after. rear caliper hand brake mech can sieze. just replace with a mk4 golf item as they last longer
apart from that keep it serviced and they go on for ever almost. most stuff that goes wrong is just normal wear and tear

Thanks :) must admit I am looking forward to having some fun with it.

Its just had a new paint job. Its got the RS body kit, K&N Filters not that I pretend to know an awful lot about it. But from looking over it there is no rust whatsoever.

All in all I am a happy chappy.... :D

he he I will do...

Just waiting on the garage to Tax the car. I got it insured last night and it will take 5 days for the docs to get here. But the guy at the garage said he would sort it out for me.

These cars are brilliant mines just clicked over 111000 miles now any recently got it it does need servicing but it gets used hard alot and it loves it, mine has got a few bodywork issues but they should be sorted soon.

No...its not that one... its the same but without the *huge* boot spoiler. And a dark metallic grey.

Got the car now... only thing I need to get fixed is the boot lock - does not want to play ball and there glove box cover has a hinge broken. But apart from that she is nice...

Oh and I think I need to get the tracking done.... cos it shakes a bit when going over 80

Glove box is easy, can swap it over for Iiza/Cordoba or MK4 Polo parts. Boot lock is a new one on me, but again you can take parts of Ibiza's and Cordobas.

Things to look out for:

1. Heavy clutch as can snap the pedal box
2. Timing belt change - they do snap
3. Make sure its had/gets a good service.

Apart from those things they are solid beasties
