Just thought I'd drop a quick first post to say hello and introduce myself. I'm new to SEAT and the VAG range of cars having predominantly come from Italian cars. It looks like this forum has a wealth of information on SEATs so I'm looking forward to being a part of it :)

Anyway, last week I picked up a used SEAT Leon Mk2 TDI FR+ in Speed Blue from one of the Seat dealers. I would post a couple of pics but as a newbie with less than 15 posts it seems I'm not allowed to post pictures or links yet.

Anyway, it's a one year old ex-demonstrator car so it has one previous owner (the SEAT dealer) and came fully loaded with all available optional extras which was a nice bonus. So far I'm loving it but I have to admit that I'm still slightly nervous about having a car with a DPF because during the week it will be getting used by the other half to do a lot of short "around town" journeys. I just need to make sure we take it out on some decent trips during the weekends to try and get any stored up soot burned off so we avoid any potential clogged DFP issues. I would get a DPF delete done but I can't do that while it's still within it's manufacturer warranty period unless I want to void the warranty on the whole car which would be rather foolish of me so I won't be doing that. From what I gather though, the newer CR engines are supposed to better than the older PD engines for DPF issues. I guess we'll see.

I also hope the DSG gearbox doesn't go wrong either because that looks to be a very expensive bit of kit to get repaired. At least with the remaining two years of manufacturer warranty left on the car I do have some peace of mind with that for a while longer.

I'm used to getting dirty under the bonnet and pulling cars to pieces to do all my own servicing and repairs but I guess this car is going to be mostly dealer serviced and maintained, at least while it's still under warranty and probably longer if I still have the car when the warranty expires in order to maintain FSH on the car.

For anyone interested, my other cars are a year 2000 Alfa Romeo 145 Green Cloverleaf (currently has a broken 2.0 Twin Spark engine with a trashed bottom end that I'll be fixing over the summer), and a 1994 Lancia Delta integrale Evo 2.

I've just realised I've posted my first post in the wrong section

If a mod sees this thread can they please move it to the "INTRODUCTIONS - New Members" section for me. Thanks.

Haha you won't be the first person to have done that.

There great cars pal and you will enjoy it I'm sure.

I have a Leon FR TDI and I have some issues with the DPF but that's slightly down to my fault.

Just enjoy it and worry about things when they come but there aren't any common faults on then to be honest.

Thanks :)

I love the way it drives / handles and after driving mostly older cars, all the mod cons it has feel like complete luxury :D Still - more things to go wrong I guess.

I already had an electrical gremlin with the interior light yesterday that since seems to have disappeared so I'll need to keep an eye on that. I'll put a separate post up for that in case anyone else has experienced the same problem and knows what it could be down to.
