I'm sure white FR TFSI's do exist, just not on the second hand market it seems.

A white cupra 07 for 13.5k I would snap up.

What's peoples opinions on the DSG gearbox?

white fr' tfsi's do exist ;)

I'm very new to all this so please bear with me.

If I were to get the FR what would be the recommended mods to improve it towards the cupra?

I've seen remapping mentioned? Is that only a diesel mod? How much?

Also what about replacing the suspension to (slightly) lower the car and improve the handling?

Thanks

The Fr works well with Eibach lowering springs which improve looks, ride and handling. If you feel that 200 hp is inadequate you can easily re-map to give Cupra power figuresfor about £5-600. The Cupra rolls on 18" rims- a straight swap if you prefer the look. The Dsg gearbox has to be a terrific possible option -I have driven many manual and Auto cars over the years and regard this as an important development- as near to the best of both as so far available.

Firstly, drive both of them, preferably back to back and as aforementioned, on similar roads.
Remaps are an option on all three cars although proportionally you will see greater gains on the petrol engines.
You will love the power of the petrol engines and how you get off the line, it's addictive and when you take it up to the redline you discover.... oh my, there's a torque spike hehe (well on my cupra anyway).
However put your foot down in gear on the motorway in the diesel and you will grin. (and that's from memory with my old 150 TDi).

So you need to do some serious thinking. Weigh up how much motorway pounding you do against how much fun you will have on shorter stretches where the acceleration of the petrol will be more noticeable.

Bottom line is, my commute is 2 miles each way and I still drive a cupra because even around those roads I put my foot down and have a laugh. (or is it for the street cred I get from the kids I teach....)

Anywho, back to marking A levels and deciding peoples' futures. Mwahahahaha, the power :)
