they are the same blades as in the flip keys that alot of people have been buying and you can have them cut at places like timpsons or a good key cutting place

What age is your ibiza? as they changed the key from an Infrared key to a radio frequency key, I think it was about 97? They changed it along with the type of blade so thats how you should be able to tell the difference!

The key you have bought is a very good price compared to alot of others on ebay, i have just bought a brand new Audi flip key with new blade for £11.45 including postage! I am under the impression I can get it to work with my mk2 Ibiza, if not I have a really cool spare key!! My remote like the one you have bought doesn't work anyway so I am used to using the key!

i havent actually bought it yet and 1s already sold..... i emailed the guy with just the blade to see what code it says on the blade itself, cos the guy that poste above said it shuld say. HAA... And thats what it says on mine.

I dont know if mine is infrared or not, but its a V reg, if they changed it, i guess mine would be radio?

Thanks

New keys from SEAT are really expensive. I have one of the laser cut keys with the imbolisher chip it was like, £70 without the remote central locking buttons and £150 with.. lol

Mad Apparently they have to program stuff.. who knows.. I wouldnt get one from ebay but thats just me

Just got my audi flip key! Had it cut for £6.50 but the bloke at the shop said it would not start the engine as it was not coded! I was thinking it doesnt matter as my car has no immobiliser, the bloke in the shop was right! He said that it will work once he's coded it, which is good but £35. But I also have to call seat up and get some sort of ecu code or something? Does anyone know the code or is it specific to each car!

ibiza_95 this blatently means you will have to get yours coded as well!
sorry!

right,

you buy a new key (remote one)
you need to...

1) get it cut
2) program it to lock/unlock
3) get it coded to the immobilizer

steps 1 and 2 very easy

step 3 you need someone to read your immobiliser to get the login code to program new keys or ask seat to get you login code from HQ

some people get around step 3 by swapping there transponder out of a working key into there new fob (careful they are V. fragile if you do this)

hope that is clearer ;)

Hi, I am in the same situation as you at the moment. For anyone to code in the key, you need the SKC from Seat. It is needed to access the ECU. I was planning on getting the code from Seat and coding it in myself with VAGCom, but I rang Seat this morning and they wanted £58.75 just to tell me the SKC. I got a key with a transponder cut from an auto locksmith for £25 which I thought was reasonable.

I have been all through this as my missus drove over the spare key for my Tolly..

Chemical Al's post about the 3 steps above, really sums it all up..

Steps 1 and 2 are fairly straight forward, it is step 3 which is the real hassle..

If you don't already have a spare key, you will not be able to nick the Transponder from it, so will need a new one to put in your new key..

The was a guy on here selling them, and I got one which worked absolutly fine..

Failing that, you can get them from here:
http://www.hickleyvaltone.com/diagnostics/keys_list.php?range=transponder

My Tolly used the Crypto ID48 transponder..

Once this is fitted in the key, you will need to get the SKC code to code it to the Immobiliser..

Either a trip to the dealer and pay lots of notes, or try and do it yourself like I did..

You need to extract the immobiliser Id from the car, and anyone with vagcom can do this for you..
If you are ever anywhere near Milton Keynes, then I can do it for you.

Given the immobiliser Id, you need to give this to SEAT and request the SKC code to match.
I got mine from the dealer that supplied the car, and they were very forthcomming..

Once you got the SKC, back to VAGcom and add the key following the procedure:
http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/Immo3-key-matching.html

Again, anyone with Vagcom can help you here as long as you have the SKC.
Can't do plop all without that, so maybe best to persue that before you even think about keys and transponders !

All in all, my flip key, codded and working cost me 25 quid !! Bargain..

Any more info, then please shout..

My Tolly used the Crypto ID48 transponder..

Nice one mate, how did you knwo that this is what transponder you needed?
It all seems very complicated, although have never used vagcom, so i catually dont know how complex it is :D

Ive go the steps 1, and 2 sorted as mentioned above ;) and all is peachy so far. the key needs cutting and ill have to buy a new transponder... tut.

How do i find out what transponder i need? as there is two quoted for 1998 onwards, and mines 99'

Ill have to get in touch with someone with vag com round where i live, i passed through MK the other week i think on the way back from kent to leeds... or i think i did anyways :)

Will send out a thread about people with vag com in my area, but any more info would be great... all seems a lot of hassle, i might just take the transponder out of the key and hide it in the car so the imobiliser is by-passed, then just wire in a seperate unit for an imobiliser...

Or maybe not
