New Black Magic FR - what Polish?

Making the leap from what has been a cracking VRs Fabia to an FR Leon next week (if the dealer gets his act together!) and having read up as much as I can on the Detailing Forums I'm still unsure as to what the best bet is for a Polish/Wax on a new car..

Any ideas Gents?

Cheers

is a polish wax anything like a brazilian wax :D?

as for washing your car, i would ask in the detailing forums. i'm a autoglym man myself, but each to their own.

you can use Meguiar's Quik Wax (Spray) on every wash to get the car a quick showroom shine....but if you want to detail your car i can advise you , Turtle Wax Color Magic Polish (Black) , it gets the car a more deep black and it covers swirls and minimal scratches, and then you can apply a liquid wax on it, then you'll have a brilliant shine to 7-8 washes...

Read up on the forums about the safe "two bucket" wash technique, this will keep the Black Magic paint in tip top condition.

As for products for a new car I would sugest claying the car first (you'd be suprised how much crap there is on a new car) then a good gleaner polish and then a quality wax.

My personal favorites are the Chemical Guy's products from www.carwashnwax.com

I can highly recomend the Citrus wash n gloss shampoo, Cherry wet wax (actually a cleaner polish) and the 50/50 wax.

PM me for a discount code ;)

Cleaned and waxed last weekend, half in Zymol Cleaner wax and Auto Glym Super Resin Polish the other half.

I want to see which lasts the longer. I also have Zymol Titanium for when I have a full day free to clean.

I use the Auto Glym Super Resin Polish on my black magic, find it pretty good.. Looking to get a good clay bar and proper wax now though..

Thanks for the advice chaps, looks like I'll be investing in a washing mitt and drying cloth for starters and cleaning up with a decent clay. I like the look of the Zymol products but wow are they expensive! - am I correct in thinking the Zymol waxes last longer thus justifying the initial outlay?

Cheers for the offer of a discount code AR-CoolC - excuse me for being a newbie but how do I PM you?

You have me bitten with the bug, my purchases;

Meguiars Quik Clay kit
Sheepskin wash Mitt
Meguiars Foam Applicators Pkg/2
Meguiars #26 Hi Tech Paste Wax

Cant wait to get this little package in the post now..

theres no point in buying a new car and skimping on protecting it.

err, I pop down the local garage every 2 weeks, give it a spray with a jet wash,
(not to close) dry with a leather and buff with a cloth,

Takes 10 mins, comes out gleaming, :D

I really dont have time to spend half a day cleaning a car ;)

I let the local immigrants do it in Hitchin. They jet-wash, hot wax, clean the alloys properly, wipe around all the seals, apply wet-look to the tyres and completely clear all the water off + a good chamois too....

£5 - can't go wrong ;)

I used to do that with the old car till I caught them discolour my alloys by leaving the acid on them too long and drop a sponge on the ground and continue using it on my bonnet covered in grit

Not letting them anywhere near my 2 week old Leon [:@]

Two bucket wash method with sheepskin mit, then Super Resin polish, then NTX or Gold Class Megs, all applied with sponge applicators and wiped off with Megs microfiber cloths. Between waxing and polishing wash with two bucket method and Turtle wax shampoo, then get rid of swirls and water marks with Megs detailing spray, good for my Mk1 in Black Magic. I did clay it so thats a good one to start. I got it all from Halfords with the Three for Two offer and saved a bomb!!
