My recent visit to your Unit 9, Callenders Swindon SN5 7YW was shockingly bad from start to finish. Dropping the car off there was no space to park the car as your car park was full, was told that I would get a phone call as soon as it was ready which I did not. I then turned up back at the test center where I was told that my car had failed its MOT test due to problems with rear brakes binding and near side puncher. To fix this it would cost £50 to service the breaks plus any parts that needed to be replaced and was already quoted for a new budget tyre as was noted that tyre was unrepeatable. I then asked where the puncher was and just told on near side tyre and would not show me where on the tyre of give me any more helpful information as what the problems where.

I was not going to replace my tyre with a budget £71 tyre when the rest of my tyres were high performance Michelin tyres. Once i found the nail in the tyre I was then not convinced that I would need a new tyre where the nail was located so I then took it to a local tyre centre down the road and no surprise they advised that it was not a problem to fix and got it repaired for £15!

I then took my car to Auto speed in Swindon to check my rear brakes as they provide a free break check and they found NO problems with the breaks! After explaining that it just failed its MOT on the break test they then ran the same tests that is done as part of the MOT and it passed.

So I took my car elsewhere for its MOT test and to no surprise it PASSED its MOT with no problems.

Agreed report them....no one like VOSA turning up..

Ive had a problem recently..long story but..i had a downpipe NOT fitted at a local garage because "It wouldnt fit"..
I had to pay them for there time in removing and putting back together..

Then took it to another garage a mate works at (should have gone there first but was busy)
And helped him fit it...
So went back and demanded my money back..and got it.

moral is,Dont let them take you for a mug..

Thinking about it, i would go back to halfords and kick off, demand at least the test fee back maybe push for compo because of the work needed that they made up (fraud) and threaten them with VOSA, then either way when your done report them as all they are doing is using the MOT system to bend people over a barrel, so its your turn to have their pants down.

Punctures in tyres are only available on mot pc as an advisory. So where did they find the section to fail it? Did they show you the failure?

you went elsewhere? so paid another fee?

I have nearly always and will continue to go to an MOT testing facility that does MOT testing only. NO REPAIRS.

A fair test everytime and really helpful chatty guys. While you wait and if they find anything at all they show you it on the car at the time.
Last time i was there they explained that VOSA are encouraging advisories and passes rather than the previous way that most garages did business of passing or failing with statistically very few advisories.

Did you get any paperwork showing the extra tests you did?
Id be back to halfords with paperwork expecting a full refund and expecting further showing of good customer service due to the significant hassle and time spent sorting this out.

They did put punctures down as advisory and failed my car for rear break efficiency, got it on paper, then got other garage to Test breaks and it passed without problems and have there paper work that shows no problems as well.
