Nervous handling

My 04 tdi cupra has slowly developed some alarming handling traits. It's always been a bit floaty but now it's reallly starting to worry me.

In the recent icy weather, It feels like the rear end is moveing out of line at the least provocation, especially where there are slight undulations in the road, such as worn truck tyre gulleys (?). Not so much that I need to correct it, but just enough to make me think it's about to break lose and give me butterflies. All at 30 mph!

Background: Tyres aren't new but are OK. Front tracking checked 1000 miles ago. Car's done 105000 miles so I'm expecting some wear, and I know the shocks are not that shocking. Replacement gearbox last year after I wore the hardening off. remapped and thrashed merciously (in a straight line!)

Any ideas you lot, I arrive at work a nervous wreck....

admittedly miss matched tyres and reasonably budget, fronts are quite grippy rears while rears have loads of tread and are not as grippy. tyre pressures checked weekly and are around 35 - 37 psi.

I'm aiming to get a new pair shortly, but I still suspect something else. I usually spend around £80 a tyre, have run Toyo proxis before and it's still the vauguest car I've had.

Love it though.

Swap tyres this weekend

Cold out! Rear rotalla f105. Front milanza.

Don't laugh, the milanzas are actually great (comparatively speaking!)
