Been aving problems with my brakes for last week, grinding coming from left side, so thought pads must be low. Bought new pads and disks fitted them n noise still happened, though they might need bedding in. I though it was front brake as it made noise when I braked, but does it brake 4 wheels with foot brake? Anyway my back rear brake disk has snapped in half due to pads failing and piston pushing on disk, the piston is pointing upwards now and brake fluid is leaking out. So new disk, new pads and new calliper is this a hard job? I could do the disk and pads but not sure about the calliper with fitting the brake lines how do I do this? Do the front and back brakes run off same fluid?

Thanks for any help

They all run off the same fluid, when you press the pedal all four corners are used, clamp the rubber flexi as soon as you can and stop the system from bleeding out otherwise it's a big job to bleed the whole lot, just use vice grips if nothing else. Fitting the caliper is easy enough and so is bleeding a single brake using a pressure bleeding kit.:)

1) - Your brake pedal controls all four wheels braking
2) - You might be able to reassemble the calliper (with new seals etc)
3) - all the same fluid

Seriously, If you do not know that all wheels are braked by the pedal, I would doubt your mechanical competence, so please call your local mechanic & get them to drag your car & do the work for you.
