N/A or turbo

I think you missed the point...There really wouldn't be much in the amount of insurance you would pay on a 1.8T and on a 1.4 with a Punto turbo retrofitted to it. If insurance is such an issue - why would you consider such a thing?

I never recormended a 1.8tT. I recormended a PD100 MK4.

No-one said you did. You said a 1.8T would have high insurance..my point is - so would a 1.4 with a Punto turbo strapped to it, so why not just get a 1.8T  You managed to miss the point again.

So did you.

A. I never recormended the 1.8T, even though you ackowledged this, I will repeat.
B. I never said modify his car in any way at all.
C. I recormended a PD100. So why are you argueing with me?
D. I know there wouldn't be much difference. HENCE PD100?
From what some of the posts the OP wrote, he said he had problems with INSURANCE. Hence why I said the PD100 pokier, and cheap to insure!

He does not 'want' to, he's thinknig about it and asking for suggestions. I gave mine.

AGAIN why are you argueing with me?

danneh thank you!

for everyones info i am 3 weeks away from being 21 have 8 points on my lisence and currently have 1 years NCB.

I AM NOT 17, 18 with my first car and i swear i DO NOT think i am the next world rally champion.

i am tho a guy that likes to be different. personnally i would prefer to see how much power and handling i could get out of a 1.4 than driving like a fan-dan in a 2litre that i couldn't control on full throttle. modifying or making anything custom imo is to the creators preference.

also as danneh stated is was merely thinking about the idea of a turbo and now i have my answer i can clearly say thank you for the help and advice but after i have looked into it a bit more i think i am going to opt for a straight-thru de-cat system green panel filter powedercoat the fr alloys tint front and rear lights black and lower it 40mm plus all the ususal lcr splitter rear arb and front lower and upper strut braces

Not sure why you would get a full exhaust on it? Waste of money, same with the panel filter. Will give no real gains so I wouldnt bother. If you want a tip showing the exhaust, just get a backbox for £100 and be done with it, dont spend the best part of £500 on performance for a N/A 1.4.

Do you have discs or drums at the back? Discs = 100hp, drums = 75/80hp.

Seat released an ecu update for the 1.4 due to "lack of power" I'd ask the dealership if yours has had it.
I've done the green filter, slight improvement from standard, providing you take the "flappy bit" out of the engine cover that restricts quite a lot. I've got a Pipercross induction kit on currently, and had better results with that than the green filter. Some of the 1.4'ers have gone with the BMC CDA induction kits. If I hadn't of bothered with the green filter and pipercross in the first place, I would have done the same.
Had a Magnex cat-back system fitted yesterday, increased bore size, no middle box and the back box is essentially straight through as it's for a pd130 ;) I don't think much benefit is going to be achieved from decat.

It happens when your young. Happens to most new, teenage drivers. I would also put my hand up and say I have been stupid here and their. Well done for admitting your faults, and I hope you've become more sensible now too. I certainly will.

rant

However, what I don't accept (not talking about you) is when people say admit there faults, and have reformed, others drivers continue to treat/talk to them like they are still a loonatic and always will be!
/rant

Spark. I was reading a post and you mentioned your daily work car.

You said it's very slow, and its achieves 60mpg. You said you don't thrash it at all, and your drive very calmy and relaxed.

Your not big :)

the reason i will be getting a de-cat is cause everyone knows the basic rule, if its straight through then theres nothing stopping the exhaust gases

my car has discs on the rear so a guess it will be the 100bhp model

once again thanks for the help people
