if the car was a import would that not affect my insurance ?? and if it was imported it was imported from new as it has a full service history with it, either way im happy with it just a small upgrade needed and it will be beter than standard anyway :)

As detailed in many of the replies, Brembo brakes were standard equipment on ALL UK LCRs, you could not purchase one without these brakes. You are remarkably calm for a person that has a 'suspicious' car, you really need to take an arguement up with the dealership that you bought it from and get to the bottom of this, there may be other underlying issues, some more serious!

My thoughts are either that someone has removed the Brembo calipers and sold them to make a quick buck or that you have a Cupra/FR 180 with an LCR body kit.

While you're all excited about splashing £600+ on 6 pistons, it should cross your mind that you should already have a decent set of 4 piston calipers as standard and putting that £600 to better use.

The dealership might not generally be a dodgy one but they are a business and will shift their stock at any opportunity. They were probably just waiting for a buyer that hadn't done their homework to come along, then up you popped. Not trying to be rude here by the way but you should be concerend.

You wouldn't also upgrade it with 18" wheels and the Recaro interior as well though, IMO. Not unless you were going balls out to build an LCR replica and anyone who knew enough to get the right Recaro seats would also know that Brembos and no Recaros would be a more accurate LCR rep than the other way around...

Maybe it was a WIP, unfinished and decided to sell on for whatever reason or maybe it was just never intended to fit the Brembo's, there's no way to tell.

He didn't buy it from a dealer, was swapped with someone he knows. the kid he swapped it with got it from a Nissan dealer in Bournemouth, he likes it the way it is and it's quicker than my Mk3 Ibiza Cupra R, so he's happy atm, just wants my Brembos!!

I know this as MoshyMosh is my younger Bro, car was parked on my drive until about an hour ago!

Well if its faster than a Cupra R its also remapped then. Bet it doesn't stop as well without the Brembo's

I would imagine it's quicker than my Ibiza Cupra R as it's newer, his has a K04 v K03 and an added 30bhp, but there is the added bulk..

dont be mugged off mate
if the brakes arent on there, its for a reason, which seems to be unknown to everyone! i would do a more detailed check of the car, make sure nothing else is 'missing' and everything is in working order...you dont want to drive something unsafe...the brakes were brembos for a reason ;)

Never trust a dealer. Iv had no end of trouble with central seat in erdington and the dealer in colchester didnt even know the difference between a 210 and a 225 till i told them. Sorry thats got nothing to do with brembos but wanted to get a point accross

Its only better than proton if its been looked after. Why did they swop it for a proton?

You need to know the cars history, exactly what it is and then whats been changed and if its been done well. Putting lesser brakes on any car seems murderous to me.

Still, glad you like her and look forward to the pics. Just make sure it`s safe:)
