Ben you have got to take me out for a spin in your car next time im up with jo. looks fantastic grate mods done :)

It's never at work though, always in bits or locked in my garage, i'm sure well sort something out sometime though

you'l need some ear muffs and a pillow lol

You love it really mate :p

Dont bother with a slow run in. You need to load it up properly early one to get the rings to seal.

Mineral oil first and drop it within a few miles. Then change to synthetic and change up ay 500 and 1000 miles.

Thats the way. :D

Cheers Phil, i'll have a read through that when i get a sec, so many mixed opinions about running in and building them

yeah me too,, some say dont let it drop below 2500 rpm for half hour whe starting up but surely the first time of running it up your gona be checking everything is ok...all i know is that it aint good to just let it idle....i done mine the reasonably old fashioned way and gently opened it up bit more at a time..i done so much research on what was best to do....came to a 50 / 50

Finally i feel like i'm getting somewhere with the car, after having a couple of weeks away from it due to a dodgy back i set about building it back up over this week/weekend, big thanks go to Jay @ work for his help lapping the valves in (what a boring job) and Martin for his help today.

As it stands now, rods and pistons are in, head has been stripped and cleaned, new valves are in and i've started to bolt parts back to the block.

Hopefully during the week, cams etc will go back in, sump will be fitted and i'll refit manifolds, turbo etc ready to drop it off the stand and hopefully start refitting to the car next weeked

Pics of the last weeks progress

Cheers Phil

I only done valves as they were cheap so seemed the sensible idea what with rods and pistons going in aswell.

It's looking more like an engine now, will try and get some pics up tomorrow once i've bolted a few more bits on

Few more pics of tonights progress

Looks like an engine now, manifolds, turbo, sump, cams are all back on along with new water pump, belt and tensioners.

Tomorrow i'll be dropping it off the stand cleaning and bolting the gearbox back on, then get the car to work for friday night so i can start working out how i'm going to get the new downpipe on and maybe even start bolting it all back in
