Hi people, it’s been a while since I have updated this. I have been busy starting a new job and having some more work done on the car. First of I had the gearbox rebuilt because a bearing went and 4th gear crumble and also had flywheel replaced, then I got the Apexi AVC-R plumbed in to control boost as was having a few spiking problems and also got few pipes etc replaced along with service, 4new coil packs and spark plugs to sort misfire out. All was running sweet for 3-400 miles then driving home from the pictures couldn’t get it out of fifth gear, towed the car back upto star performance to see what the problem was and found out that diff bolts had sheared off creating a nice hole in my gearbox

So managed to buy 2nd hand box from Knotty (Thanks mate) got that sent upto star and they sent the two gearboxes away for another rebuild, got the car back and Jim had it out a test drive, clutch was slipping so he asked if I wanted another clutch plate put in as oil must have got into it, so had a new clutch plate put in also, so car’s pulling strong again and I’m still having to sell it as just bought a house with my mate. (Got it at a good price so couldn’t miss out). So if anyone is interested in the car please see my for sale post xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Sad to come to the end of this story but I’ve loved every minute of ownership, even through the tough times. Just hope it goes to a good home now as I have spent best part of £4k getting problems fixed from when I bought the car. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

Thanks for looking,

Derrick.

So sorry to see you have had to replace the box mate. I was reading only early this week about Peloquin bolts shearing, thinking to myself, NAH must be incorrectly torqued, to then see this. Obviously a problem with them.

Good luck with the sale mate.

I kept the same box, just swapped the casings over Matt. I think it is a problem with the pelequin diff's as my previous IHI done the same to the new owner when i sold it to him. So glad to get back driving it again, ive missed it.

Lets see if they hold out. Should do. If they dont then Peloquins will have some nice bills coming their way! From what they say its all from not machining the crown wheel flat. Its something that found out fairly recently by the sound of it.

I just wish i knew sooner that the bolts wern't really upto the job so i could have replaced them when I got the box rebuilt the first time when the bearing collapsed, would have saved me a bit of money.

Sods law really :D

3 at once, not good enough that the bolts aren't up too it. As long as the diff was ok, and re-shimed in the new casing all should be well again.

what bolts were fitted this time?

Glad its back 100% mate.

ARP's should be ok, lets hope so anyway, but if its due too the crown wheel needing machined then who knows. But saying that Quaiffe seems to be ok with no reports of failures that iam aware off.
