Aye thats right, I seen your car just across from us at the campsite, meant to go over to speak to you.

Its a backdraft setup I have with a custom 3" exhaust system etc etc, Revo stage 3 by backdraft (I sent them my ECU for the map) Its overfulling like f*** though, wrecked 4 bank 1 lambdas since November. Going to get it looked at at the weekend hopefully at a revo dealer in Glasgow to see what they can find out, maybe a boost leak or the map is out. If so I will go to backdraft or badger 5 for a custom map, Aiming for 350bhp once overfulling/clutch is sorted.

I like your wheels, I think they sit really well, nice an chunky looking compared to the standard wheels, well smart. Can you run spacers on the back with the 8J width? I do have some 16" superleggeras to go on mine after probs are sorted.

Who mapped yours? Be real good when you get the fuelling sorted.

lol mine is overfuelling a touch to and clutch was slippin when he mapped it and slips now and then but was good when i went on the rollers no slippage and got 278bhp at the flywheel, was gutted at first as it never made 300 but its fast now plus i know theres more in the turbo so cant imagine what it'll be like when i do wind it up. what psi is yours peaking at and what does it drop to?

ive had loads of comments about my wheels i did put 10mm spacers on the back but my bolts werent long enough and only went in half a turn but looked awesome from the back but i took them straight off and getting longer bolts soon,

bill badger 5 mapped mine top bloke really knows his stuff and has a gt35 on his ibiza and is aroud 600bhp so i knew my car would be in good hands altho i bet he was gettin real pi**ed off with all the pipes poppin off when he was mappin it.

Oh right, probably be hard to map with a slipping clutch. Clutch could still be slipping and you just can't hear it/feel it, hense your a bit down on power, but overfuelling will bring the power down too. Same problems as me really LOL.

My next mod is upgrading the clutch/flywheel next month hopefully to handle the power. Then coilovers and wheels.

Yeh I know he really knows his stuff thats why I would go so far to get my car mapped. I have it set to 1.5Bar of boost (just over 21psi) at the moment on MBC to suit the map, full boost arrives at 3600rpm does'nt really drop off to redline.

What software is it running CC or Revo? and What sort of boost? I suppose he can do both software anyway.

Awesome car mate, loving it. Some nice pics from Combe there too - gutted I missed seeing it in the flesh as I didn't arrive til nearly 4.

Have you ditched the air con on yours? Can't understand how you've managed to keep so much of your bumper with that FMIC when I've had to chop loads off of mine.

Bet you can't wait to get the clutch sorted ;)

cheers guys, got 2 get an engine with pistons and rods for it now lol it siezed on the way home from the track day thought it was turbo first of all but it wont move or start all coolant and oil are at full level and i think it was starved of oil where i was cornering around the track an givin it loads of stick on there and as soon as it died it would not start or turn over like the battery is dead an it happend while drivin it home, not to bothered as ive a spare engine out of the old car, so will chuck the engine in and most prob go for a forged unit and build it up ready for next year.

still have air con on the car but its not connected and will be taking it off now the cars off the road clutch is on the back burner for now lol as i have 2 spend money elsewhere so my head is now workin overtime now to try and think whats the best way to go about doin my car.

Sure no pipes have popped off under load? Same simptoms...car cuts out and wont start. Might be lucky and its just that or it could be wishful thinking!

ill check later and whip the plugs out as bill said but it didnt sound good as i was just comin on boost in second and it just chugged twice and made a massive bang and some smoke came through the exhaust it cut out instantly and when i tried startin it it was like the battery was dead so it seems there's somethin jammin in 1 of the cillinders so either its dropped a valve or the rings or oil pump have gone and siezed up but will get a bit more info later when i get home from work,

wel after taking the blown motor out and makin my weekent task of gettin the other motor in it turned out to be a dead motor, fired it up and it tapped a bit then the tappin went away thought it was tappin as the oil needed 2 be pumped up2 the top as it had been standing so i changed the plugs and cranked the new motor and heard a metal clunkin kind of noise so i took the plugs out and 2 of them were smashed as if somethin was in there, not sure if it was because the engine was kept in my freezin shed all winter and moisture got in and started 2 rust the internals or what so ive bit the bullet and gone and bought a new engine that has just been built buy a guy i know and was ment for his golf rallye but due 2 him puttin it back to standard as it's a rare oettinger rallye and is worth more original than with a 20valver in (so he says).

and that was some good news for me as now ive got a more or less brand new engine which has had all new gaskets, scat rods, brand new bam pistons, new oil pump/gears/chains, large port head and has not been run in, so my plan is to get the motor in and on a new manifold (has to be top mount) get my dp modded and run it in.

so can i run my old map on this setup just to run it in? or will i have to get it tweeked? as after ive run it in im goin to get a new clutch after then ill wind the boost up.

pics of the old engine will follow as no doubt a few want to see them i done a propper job on it lol the head is as dead as ive seen and i have a hole the size or a £2 coin in the piston lol

Thats a shame mate, one reason i'm waiting to do track days is that i want a baffled sump on there first. Maybe just a ticking time bomb for me too though, I can't afford a engine build just now, but a GT2860 @ 1.5bar could do some damage.....only time will tell.

Oh well sounds as if you've got your hands on a good lump this time mate, So good luck with that. Maybe be able to get more power out of it with the uprated rods and new mani etc :)

Think you could get away with running the new engine in on your old map... as you'll be staying well away from boost anyway. I'm sure Bill or someone could confirm this though.

Interested to see what the 1st engine looks like now, was the cause oil starvation from the track day like you first thought? or did it drop a valve?

some good news for once new engine has been bought and gettin fitted soon

wel after blowing my engine on the way back from vw/audi trackday at castle combe ive finaly got hold of a new motor which has new bam pistons and uprated rods etc as said in my previous post, this motor should do me for what i need it for and will be good for around 400bhp so im told so i will be fittin this possibly next week and get it run in so i can max this turbo out and get some serious fun out of it,

so ill get on with a few pics of my blown engine ill let the pics do the talkin lol

SP_A0060.jpg

SP_A0062.jpg

so it seems as it has dropped a valve, 3 have totally snapped off and has made one hell of a mess of the pistons and the only thing i can see i can salvage off the block is the sump and rocker cover and cams lol so i have done a propper job on it lol

so as im goin to be fittin a re-built motor it will need to be run in and have been told to change the oil regularly first on 100miles then 500miles and then again on 1000miles so what oil shall i use for runnin this motor in?

cheers gaz
