So I'm either at crossed wires as to whether it should have come with them or not since the changes were mentioned but....

Just had a phone call from the dealer saying that car I'm picking up on Friday hasn't got xenons.

Supposedly anything built after week 45 (5/11/07) wont..... Mine was ordered before then and built week 48....

Have they negotiated a price, as you clearly expected the car to come with Xenon's? As the dealer should of made you clear about these changes.

They should take up the complaint with SEAT's dealer supply department. Not sure they can be retrofitted now, but maybe negotiate some accessories to soften the blow.

if you want em, kick up a fuss,

No way you should stand back and take it, you are spending nearly 20k, if you went to a restaurant and ordered a nice steak and they brought you chicken, you'd kick up a fuss, and that probably no more than 20 quid.

Do it,

give em hell, you want your xenons!!!!!!!!!!

Too true, if you have waited 2-3 months for a car, you want the car you orderd with the spec you orderd!

The changes only got muted mid Dec! for such a big change like Xenons there should have been a cut off point that dealers , and public knew about!

Even the dealers are/was in the dark!

If Xenons are a big thing to you, don't accept the car if your not that botherd try and get the cost of the Xenons back in cash or bodykit, ect, ect!

If the car you originally ordered was specified with xenons then it should come with them regardless as to seat deciding to change there specs after youve ordered yours,if seat do change specs then the dealer should have made you aware that yours wont come with xenons when you ordered it.
When i use to sell JCB this would happen because there was a 3 month wait for them so spec changes would happen all the time, but once the machine was odered and alocated a build slot the spec/cost was fixed and regardless of spec changes the machine would come with what had been ordered. If say spec changes occured and the machine hadnt been given a build slot then it would be affected by changes, but to be fair as a dealer you should be working all this out in advance so your not in a situation were the spec differs or costs more than what customer has ordered,if for some reason there was a change or price increase then you as dealer would take it on the chin and cover cost because you dont upset the customer.

Awkward position to be in and I am gutted for you. However you can give them hell and refuse to take delivery of the car as it is not to the spec you ordered. Remember Xenons also include auto levellers and light washers, so it wont be a case of a simple retrofit assuming there are no light washers on the front bumper - right there you have a dealer sprayed front bumper and therefore not factory finish.

If you want xenons as I expect you do, do not accept this car. You ordered one with them so get one with them at the price you originally negociated. Once you accept the car it will be much more difficult to get things sorted, They will have your money then. At the moment they want your money and your business so regect it

I would ring them tomorrow and say that you basically won't accept the car and to get you one with Xenons.

As far as I know the website was only updated this year and the spec and price changes came into effect on 1st January.

Surely SEAT should be looking at the order dates when they build them. That way if it was ordered before xenons were an option then they put them on...... If it was ordered after they were made an option then they don't fit them unless selected as an option.

It should be that simple surely.

They must have been building them to come without xenons for a while so that any with delivery dates after the announcement didn't get them. Instead of building them without after they actually told people.

Well that was my stressed at work and narked at Seat to do a long post at the start.

It's being looked into though I think I'll be cancelling it. I feel conned by Seat and the dealer's doing their "it's not our fault" routine. However they're not overly concerned either as it'll sell to someone else.

Looking at the new configurator though it looks like I'm definately being conned. What's been delivered now is a Cupra + Bluetooth which according to Seat has an OTR price of 19,745 back when I ordered mine it came with Xenons at an OTR of 19,945 so even that's a price rip off as it's now Xenon less and £200 more than if I ordered it now.

There will be words later on today.....

The Xenons are the best distingusihing feature of the car both externally & from a driving point of view. I wouldnt pay the extra asking price as its vast, but as most of my driving is at night, I benefit greatly from them. They are truly fantastic. When you get back in a normal vehicle, the lights are always in the bushes & not on the road :) And then theres the look of the front of the vehicle (a different league) externally its a vast enhancement at night with the light it casts & the startup secuence always gets a comment with the electronic setup before driving off, all those MY07 buyers will not be dissapointed at resale, we can all slap a skirt and spoiler on at a fraction of the cost of the fit of the lights at a later date. Good luck, go to battle with them.

*rubs hands together*

I've been waiting for this.

What was the colour, options, and order date of your car?

This happened to me. I didn't realise that it didn't have Xenons untill boxing day when I was at my parents house (520 mile round trip). And the Seat UK department didn't reopen untill 1 week later, so the car had done 900 miles.

Anyway, firstly they offered me the full Aero bodykit free of charge fitted etc at their place in Milton Keynes. I wasn't really interested in this, so I am getting a brand new car with Xenons. I've got to wait another few months, but it'll be worth it.

If you cancel your order there's nothing you can do, if you still wanted a Leon then you would have to pay the new prices and wait for another 3 months.

At the moment you are in a good position to negotiate. Tell them to speak to the Cupra department (apparently it does exist) at Seat UK and sort something out for you. And remember that the first offer they give you probably isn't the last.

you´ve made business with dealer, that isnt your problem if something has changed between dealer and factory. The rules are clear, what was signed in your order it must come up to order ! Thats dealer prob, not yours. Dont accept delivery of car without xenons.

and I have to say, xenons are lovely stuff :)
