Hi all, well 2 weeks ago my turbo started playing up and car smoking a bit,
last week it completely packed up!

 oh no

it had 21500 miles on clock and a remap but not yet full 20000 service just an oil change at 18000 and jabba full service at 10,000miles

so called my tuner to tell him what had happen he was great came out (30 miles) to put back to standard, and he reasured me it was just unlucky he said the boost was hardly increased, i think it's just one of them things

anyway he said when it's fixed come back and i'll reinstall f.o.c

phoned seat uk and they sent a AA man he confirmed it was a turbo, they then sent a low loader and took it away wednesday.

i went with it and waited while thye looked he sai dit would take a while to investigate so i went home.

i went in on thursday to see how it was going they asked to see service history i said it need the 20,000 mile service and they did it before they fitted the new turbo (but really a picky garage could have refused to do the work)

£250 it cost but included forge engine flush, injector cleaning and cylinder head gas cleaning, oil additive, lambar sensor decorbonising and all the rest of the stuff with fully syn oil and a 1little bottle of extra oil in boot.

any way they had it done by friday noon thats wednesday noon to friday noon VERY IMPRESSED!

was expensive but if i had to get new turbo would of been £1000+

only downer when picking up car didn't even ask to see the service book untill i asked then to stamp it!!

the car is running real smooth and quiet and feels nice with standard map but lacking top end power.

so getting the map done on tuesday, can't wait!

the bloke in the seat garage said drive it not excedding 2000rpm for 1000miles

which i have been doing but sounds extreme.

any way i got a new turbo (after a year) fully cleaned engine all for 250 pounds me very happy!! :)

my garage marshalls of cambrigde v impressed with service

and esp tuner darrell @ www.torquingbhp.co.uk thanks alot for your help

maybe wait and bed the new turbo in a bit before getting it remapped.

I'm sure your tuner assured you it wasn't his fault - so just to be sure, run it in stock until the car has proven itself?

Have you got a boost gauge to see the current boost levels as standard? Will be worth it to see how much they increase when remapped. If the tuner is saying it hardly changed the boost at all, then how was it tuned? Fuelling only remaps don't usually give the kind of performance results you;ve had at the Pod, etc.

Was it somewhere in Newquay by the way, beginning with C ? ;)

1000 miles seems extreme considering the turbo does tens of thousands of rpm (more under full tit) every time you accelerate through the gears away from the lights. id give it a few days/couple of hundred miles, if its under warranty id be remapping and enjoying it.

All well and good (and tell me if I'm wrong here) - but you did have a rep for ragging the living **** out of it.

multiple turbo's will have them rubbing their chin.
