You wont get anything from insurance, not car insurance or house contents unless you can prove it was forced entry, which you cant as the police wont back it up. So you will not get back the cash. If they had of written the car off or you had never found it you would have been royally done as you would have lost the car and cash and got nothing back for it. I instinctly couldnt get out the car and leave the keys in, my brain just wouldnt let me, its like forgetting to breathe, its just doesnt happen.

its just a routine you get into i guess.. also you never think its going to happen to you.. does show though.. something you wouldnt normally do and some sum bag was in the right place at the right time.. unlucky you.. lucky him.

Thank god it wasnt written off or damaged and there wasnt a baby in the back seat or something.

I think im just suspicious of everyone.. i always press the key fob twice to make sure its locked.. never leave it unlocked in the driveway.. never leave anything on show..

saying that i do leave my stereo faceplate on.. which is bad of me. Afterall my dads stereo gpot taken in the middle of the night becuase he got into that routine

I feel for you that someone stole your car mate but not that they stole money from your wallet. If you left it lying around then thats why they probably jumped in your car in the first place.

I make it a point not to carry huge amounts of cash on me. Pay for the holiday by debit card, internet banking and cheque its far safer.

I know what you mean about having big wads of cash but what do you do if you dont have Debit Cards, Credit Cards, Internet Banking or Cheques? :(

Sorry for your loss fella, if im carrying anything over a ton in my wallet i get nervous and have one hand on it and the other clenched ready! Must have b4lls of steal to have left it around. Unless it was locked away in the glove box or something where its “Safer”.

What’s he car like? Any damage to the wheels or anything that looks like its been ragged.

Someone prob saw the car (prob a kid) and thought “Yeah man innit I is gona ave dat” bottled it, found the cash thought it was crimbo and done a runner. Is there any CCTV around that may have spotted the car and the person getting in and out.

I suppose it goes to prove the coppers aren’t so useless after all (Still needs more to prove that statement wrong tho), but seeing as it’s a quite village maybe they didn’t have anything else to do

Bankers draft? Personal Cheque from the bank? Account transfer from the bank?

Yes i am an idiot i ran in the newsagaents with my key in the ignition  & in 15 seconds my car was gone[:@] i wouldnt mind i moved from liverpool to a sleepy cheshire village to get away from that sh1t!

anyway it goes like this

5:55am run in newsagents come out & find its gone, ring the police inform them my car has a tracker

5:57am tracker ring me confirm some details

6:00am i have 3 volvo estates pulled off the motorway circling around the village

6:40am they ring me to say they have found it & i need to bring the spare key to the scene so they can move it so they dont damage it putting it in the low loader..

7:00am get to the scene not a scratch on it but i have had my wallet taken with £1100 in it all my keys which means i have to change the locks at home & at work[:@]

so now stafford police have it impounded but cheshire have to investigate due to it being reported there!

god only knows when i will get it back...

so please learn from my stupid mistake, dont leave your keys in your car!!!!

So trackers do work then!

Personally my car gets locked when I go and pay for fuel let alone a paper wherever I am
Then again living in London just makes you very aware of not making it easy for anyone to nick your stuff.

Well done for getting it back in any case.

hes man enough to admit making a mistake,he's taking it gracefully.he knows,we know, wrapping the guy up in cottonwool is just not going to help(nor is slating him),what are we supposed to say?do it again tomorow?
how much has it cost chewee?not to mention the "wasted "police hours, just because he didn't take his keys out of the ignition.
we are on a public forum smiffy, opinions vary,if chewee was a personal friend or relative i'd probably call them a stupid C**T,but i'm more polite than that ;)

Am I the only one that is pondering the likelihood of an opportune thief hanging around a paper shop at 5.55 AM?

It's not really normal is it?

something is nagging at me.

but still, no real harm done, a bit of a costly lesson, but it could have been a whole lot worse & I'm guessing thats why this hasn't deteriorated into a major rant about car washes or Polish people ;)

would it take so much for a bloke on his way to a really **** job to come across a rather nice hot hatch sat running empty on the side of the road?,guy thinks "fug it" and then finds 1100 quid after, hense the cars not so hard to find.he/she is quids in and on their toes.
