mr2 turbo vs cupra turbo

hello. my mate has just bought an mr2 turbo its the rev 3 the newest model and it is an import, it has 240bhp so he says? how would my ibiza do against him iv got 245bhp? cheers

IIRC, Rev4 is the latest model... Rev3 is pretty much the same as Rev2 with different rear lights and a couple of other small changes

I had ago against one a few weeks back ( on my runway) i had the mods in my sig except the downpipe and id say givin enough stright road he would have been quite far ahead, Sounds like you have k03s so would be another matter Im not to hot on my MR2`s this one was the older shape the ones that have the T bar, is your mates the smaller hairdresser shape?

i think his is a 1995 comes with air con eletric mirrors ect, maybe its the rev 4 then? so what do you think the out come would be?

Not sure of the outcome, very fast cars

1995 will be a Rev2 I think.

i had a play with one. hes from another site im on. he was standard and mines only got induction kit cat back and dump valve and i pulled quite far ahead of him.

Either that or his was only the 2.0l Mr2 NA version.

Theres no way you would pull ahead of a MR2 turbo unless it was poorly or not even trying.

well his was either nackerd or im mapped and i dont know it. the 2ltr na ones arent very quick because my mate had one for a month or so and my punto gt was a little bit quicker.

Id say a NA mr2 would be on par with a standard cupra, around 7.6 0-60 IIRC.

Too be fair I wasn't going to say anything as I didnt want to get pelted with stones but my old cupra before mapped was exactly the same as a mr2 turbo. I know it was a turbo as it had a chavtastic whoooosh! Lol.

As with most jap cars, extremely tunable but in standard form mostly tame.

my mate had a rev 2 with 230bhp and we were exactly the same all the way to 140mph then we got scared and to be honest neither of our cars had much left lol.

the turbo MR2s are very quick, no way a standard cupra would keep up with one.. aren't they like 5.4 to 60?! I doubt a mapped one would even keep up to be honest..

Lets be fair standard for standard the cupra will get raped.
Even a remapped cupra would still struggle against a Rev 3.
And if the MR2 is remapped ...
