Sounds about right for a 110TDI, I get between 510 - 570 miles a tank on my standard tdi150. I could easily get over 600 miles a tank if I drove like a grandad. Its gone under 500 miles a tank a few times when the turbo hose blew out and when the TPS was faulty.

Cheers I do mostly drive nicely but it would be rude to drive nicely all the time :whistle:

I have a 2003 110 TDI and normally get between 51 and 55mpg. Even travelling at 80mph on the motorway with four adults on board averaged over 50mpg.

A couple of years ago my coolant sensor stopped work, I didn’t noticed any significant increase in fuel usage. But had it replaced because I didn’t like driving around not knowing the coolant temperature.

Ah my thoughts exactly, I wouldn't want the first sign of overheating to be a cloud of steam. Thank you :)

LCR BAM 225 standard. Long term average 36.9mpg, over 40 on a long run. Driving fast doesn't make much difference to fuel consumption, it's using the brakes that wastes fuel. All down to anticipation in driving style.

1.8T VAG is the furthest thing from a Prius and nobody should buy one if they don't want most of their money going through a nozzle and into the hole of fun ;

Not quite so. Stock turbo AUQ modded to about 235 bhp can run over 420 miles on a full tank, if all it's open road / motorway.

As the experience of hybrids and electric cars teaches us petrolheads, the cheapest way to drive is to drive fast. Keep the speed high but constant, avoid stop and go traffic at all cost.

On a modern road with a modern engine, the brake is the biggest fuel hog :p

Update - a new exhaust and 570 miles for £55, an extra 40 miles for £2 more means a net gain of just 20 miles a tankful. I'm surprised replacing a blowing exhaust hasn't made more difference!

In my stock LC I can get over 400 miles to a tank. Sometimes as much as 475-500 if I drive like an old man. Giving it the beans can return over 300 miles.

I do a 100 mile round trip every Wednesday evening with the odd bit of overtaking here and there, takes me 2:20 hours thats going through 5 towns and cross country and I get 54 MPG from my 150TDI. I have had it up to 63 MPG but that was a :banghead2 of a drive. 10p a mile is good.

I've just done 540 miles, mostly motorway at about 75mph and only managed 47mpg. Wasn't too happy with that - 150tdi
